Well, I'm using kernel 2.4.18 with GeForce 2 MX.
I've seen that all OpenGL apps went slow, so I decided to install the drivers. I Installed the 4191 (from source) and it didn't work. Than I installed the 3123 (from source) and it didn't work either. Here is the err of startx: ####### #Error start ####### XFree86 Version 4.2.0 / X Window System (protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6600) Release Date: 18 January 2002 If the server is older than 6-12 months, or if your card is newer than the above date, look for a newer version before reporting problems. BTW - I think that the two errs were the same. |

You need to (as the README says, or at least as it should say if it doesn't) get rid of the Load "dri" line in your XF86Config(-4 if it's there) file.
I assume you did the rest of what the README says, anyway? The stuff about making sure you're Loading "glx" and using Driver "nvidia"?

Well, K I got it, I got confused.
Anyway, my graphics are bad with 3123 and 4191 (both bad). It seems like KDE is working at 256colors, and any gl app is not workin. Any new idea? |

Post your config file. It may be that the DefaultDepth or DefaultColorDepth is set to 8.
Actually, while you're at it, post your X log, /var/log/XFree86.0.log.
