Couple things I noticed. I don't like that the 'x' to close a tab only appears on the active one. I sometimes will switch tabs and close the ones in the background (I do this with an extension for Firefox). Also, and this is an intermittent problem, the 'x' won't appear at all on web pages that have really long titles. Last issue is that on pages that have lots of images, scrolling seems to slow down a bit, like this activity is eating more CPU cycles than in IE6 and Firefox.

Yeah I preferred the X at the side all the time. Much easier to close loads of tabs quickly.

Also clicking loads of links to open new tabs still doesn't update the link color properly every soo often, making it look like you haven't clicked it.

I had a look on the feedback page and the borked fonts are a known issue.

crap I think I am officially in love ... bear with me here...

regarding tabs get this -- in IE7: Beta 2 go into TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > SETTINGS for tabs and click "let internet explorer decide how pop-ups should open"

this FINALLY addresses a big pet peeve I had with FireFox tabs --

in FF when you force new windows to open in tabs ANY window that opens in a new window gets put in a full tab. this sucked for windows that SHOULD open in a specific size -- for ex: feedback forms, etc.

In IE7 using the setting above puts new windows with no size restraints in a new tab AND when clicking a link that opens a new window with a specific size it opens it in a new window NOT a tab <----- YES

I too thought I was experiencing this same issue until I realized I was trying to close the last open tab. Apparently you just can't close the last open tab, as the 'x' doesn't appear and right-click > 'close' is greyed out.

Example of page with really long title;

http://www.foxitsoftware.com/download.htm (right-click this link and select 'Open in New Tab')

Indeed. Now close every other tab but that one and the 'x' disappears.

Well yeah.. you cant close your last tab, or you'd have a browser with nothing in it.

While I like some of the changes, I'm glad they provided the classic menu. I felt lost without it.

I tried IE7 beta 2 last night, it was very good and very nice, I got 2 issues with IE7, it has no menu that I cant find Help menu for About Internet Explorer information and 1 IE7 window used twice the memory of 1 IE6 window used as little as 30Mb. 1 IE7 window with 4 tabs used 70Mb, that lots of memory so I decided to uninstalled it. Hope the memory usuage will go down to IE6 level when it go gold and want to see IE7 have the option to add roll up menu.
