If i were you i would stop blaming the card so much, i have the msi 7093 board with this chipset and im having lockups every day using a saphire x1300 pci express card, the chipset is just downright unstable, my board is coming out in the next week or so and i will be avoiding the ati chipset for some time, this is the worst chipset i have experienced in 10 years of computing

(Although, in fairness, I updated to the latest drivers at the weekend, and have had only one crash since. That was yesterday. The computer's useable now and reasonably trustworthy, at least. Which is good. A start, anyway.) |

I have experienced the same issues as many of you here have with this configuration. I have an emachines T6212 which also uses the MSI 7093 board. I installed a Chaintech 6200TC and the system freezes and then reboots at random times. Sometimes it could be hours before this happens or it could be a few minutes off a cold boot. Without the card my system is perfectly stable. I am using windows xp pro and have disabled write combining under Display Properties to see if this cuts down on the problem. I will try and see if using the latest beta drivers helps any.

I've reproduced this problem and opened bug 227803.
Thanks, Lonni |

I have experienced the same problem
I am working with Suse 10.0 in a Compaq Presario SR1495ES Processor AMD Athlon 64 3700+ 2.2 GHz Chipset ATI Radeon XPress 200P Motherboard MS-7093 Video Nvidia 6200 TC more info: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=es&cc=es〈=es&os=228&product=501312&dlc =es&docname=c00430890 NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-8756 freeze the system when I start graphical session some times after 5 minutes of work and some times after 20 minutes but always I have to shutdown with the power button. The problem also exists with previous versions of the driver (8178, 8174 and 7676). More than 8 month working with the computer and any solution for Nvidia driver, Suse driver works fine but without GL support. |

Your having problem on XP with rs480 & nv6200?
I thought this was a unix/linux problem only. I run XP on rs480 with 6200 Turbocache, and it works fine |

If it helps with figuring out what the problem is, I have the same thing going on here, too. Same chipset in a Compaq Presario SR1750NX (specs here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/p...roduct=1815877) and the geForce 6200 TurboCache PCI-e card installed. I'm using Ubuntu 6.10, and with the latest drivers enabled the computer will usually lock up within 10 minutes, whether or not RenderAccel is enabled. If there's any other information I can provide that will help, just let me know.

and another one...
btw. ist there a way to disable turbocache? I dont need it and would happily give up some "graphic memory" and gain system stability.tried various driver/kernel/X-version/distro compinations and no luck at all... ![]() IF ONLY NVIDIA GPL'ed THEIR DRIVERS - OR AT LEAST RELEASE SPECS TO ALLOW BUILDING A FREE DRIVER Last edited by woldra; 07-10-06 at 04:23 AM. |
