Default Widescreen modes (1680x1050) on SUSE?

Hi all,

I've just bought a new TFT from Belinea, model 102035W , and I am trying to configure it under SUSE LINUX 10.0 without success. I've been searchin several threads here and in other Linux related sites but the solution is not clear to me.

I've tried to config first from SaX2, just selecting ->LCD and then 1680x1050 60 Hz. No luck. Then I did the same but I changed the size (20 inches) and format (16:10) of the screen, and also the frequencies, Horiz 31-83, Vert 56-75. No luck again.

Then I run as root the xmode -x 1680 -y 1050 -r 60 command to get the correct Modeline, which appeared as expected. I copied that text and inserted into my Mode Section in xorg.conf (6.8.2), and used that Modeline in
the Screen section as well to get it available on the diferent Depth Subsections.

Again, no luck. I'm running out of bullets, so if anyone has any idea that would be great...

Thanx in advance!!

Please start X with the following command:
startx -- -logverbose 5

and then generate and post a bug report.

Thanks,
Lonni

Hi,

I've just fixed it! It seems the latest NVIDIA driver was able to manage the frequencies of my TFT, and now I've got it running at 1680x1050 without any probs :-)

I just installed the driver, then configured it under SUSE with 'sax2 -m 0=nvidia', changed to ->LCD, 1680x1050 60 Hz, 20 inches and 16:10 format, and frequencies (maybe here is the trick) to Horiz: 31-83, and Vertical to 60-60 (just that). Test the config, it worked flawlessly, so now I'm quite happy!!
