Default Re: Driver support for Xgl...

thanks for the info!

any hint how to do xgl with a recent fedora rawhide cut?
i know there is project bling!
see https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedo.../msg00641.html
but it is said that it is not compatible with nvidia cards at this time
see https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedo.../msg00647.html
so it would be great to try compiz and friends.

cheers
lars

Hey all,
I'm pretty sure that I remember the fix for the black rectrangles on old cards being that you need the newest glitz from CVS.

edit - I'm pretty sure this is what fixed XGL on my laptop, with a geforce2go. When XGL first was released I had the black rectangles. But as I said, I think new glitz fixed it. Also pixel shaders are needed to do XV video, so an old card like a geforce to go won't play video right... BUT youcan simply change your video player to use gl, or gl2 output instead of XV and everything will be ok.

The GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap extension still hasn't been finalized. There is a thread on the xorg mailing list [1] discussing it. We are working on an implementation that will hopefully go into the 9xxx series of drivers, but I can't make any promises.
