Default 6800GS AGP under Linux?

Hi All,

I just ordered a 6800GS AGP card without first checking whether it is supported under Linux. The current driver release notes don't list the card, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it won't work. Can anyone verify whether it will work? I'm running the 2.6.15 kernel.

Thanks!

I too have a 6800GS & just tried to install FC4 from the DVD two days ago. It failed, but I think it was because of the SiS (like 715 I think) chipset. YMMV

Thanks for the information. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of data available about this card under Linux.

Can anybody say whether support for this card is planned sometime in the relatively near future? I can deal with not having an X desktop for a while if I know that support is coming. (Normally, I would just expect support to be coming. Given that this is an AGP card, though, I don't know how much effort is going to be given to it.)

Thanks!

The 6800GS is supported in the (already) released 1.0-8178 driver.

Thanks,
Lonni

Thank you very much for the information, netllama! I can rip out the ATI card, burn it, gather the charred remains of the card and bury it in the mountains somewhere.
