Hello,
I haven't found a workarrond on this well-known bug : after few hours, a blue screen appears when playing video vith xv driver. If I put -vo X11 on mplayer, it works fine. I must use xv because for my work must have full screen videos with TV-Out. Does anyone have a workarround for this ? |

@RegisG: this problem should be resolved in 1.0-8178 and future NVIDIA Linux legacy graphics driver releases.

Hi,
The problem still hold with 8178 (under linux kernel 2.6.12, GeForce4 440 Go 64M). I've posted 7 months ago a bug report, and this bug report is still valid for this problem. See http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=55064 Thanks ! Samir Last edited by sambot; 02-24-06 at 03:31 AM. |

I too am getting a blue screen when trying to play back any HD files. I have tried the new drivers but I still get a blue screen and I have to reboot before the machine becomes stable again. I have tried disabling vblank in the settings but it still happens... (None HD plays fine)
I have a on board mx440: 02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV18 [GeForce4 MX - nForce GPU] (rev a3) running Fedora Core 4 using 8178 drivers. If there is more info you need please let me know. ![]() _Peace |

I had this problem when playing HD on my FX5200, especially after fiddling with the windowsize and position. Indeed it would return to normal only after a reboot.
But, with my 6600GT I have not seen it yet. So probably it is GPU related (hardware video overlay?). |

Almost the same problem here. I got blue screen at once with xv video driver, but it works just fine with x11, gl and gl2 drivers. I've tried with Mplayer and (G)Xine. Here's my nvidia-bug-report.log in the attach. BTW are some of those drivers optimised to give best performance and stability with nvidia drivers? I don't know, I'm just asking
