Hello,
After installing the Nvidia driver (8178-pkg2) for the GeForce 6200 TurboCache, I get this error: (EE) NVIDIA(0): The NVIDIA kernel module does not appear to be receiving (EE) NVIDIA(0): interrupts generated by the NVIDIA graphics device. (EE) NVIDIA(0): Please see the FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS section in the (EE) NVIDIA(0): README for additional information. (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA graphics device! (EE) NVIDIA(0): *** Aborting *** (II) UnloadModule: "nvidia" (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration. I tried to boot with those kernel parameters: pci=noacpi pci=biosirq noapic acpi=off But no way, I can not get my X server working with the "nvidia" driver. It "works" with the "vesa" driver but I can not enjoy glx... Can the integrated 945G/P Graphics Port be at the origin of the IRQ conflicts? How can I solve this error? I attached the "nvidia-bug-report.log.zip" file. Please let me know, Thanks, Jacques. |

It looks like IRQ 129 might be the root of the problem:
NVRM: loading NVIDIA Linux x86_64 NVIDIA Kernel Module 1.0-8178 Wed Dec 14 16:58:07 PST 2005 irq 129: nobody cared (try booting with the "irqpoll" option) Call Trace: <IRQ> <ffffffff801653a5>{__report_bad_irq+53} <ffffffff8016561a>{note_interrupt+538} <ffffffff80164da3>{__do_IRQ+259} <ffffffff80111c48>{do_IRQ+72} <ffffffff8010f320>{ret_from_intr+0} <EOI> <ffffffff8844f067>{:nvidia:_nv001831rm+99} <ffffffff8844f020>{:nvidia:_nv001831rm+28} <ffffffff8858e0ab>{:nvidia:_nv003988rm+159} <ffffffff8863e9bb>{:nvidia:_nv000817rm+15} <ffffffff8863d704>{:nvidia:_nv000828rm+230} <ffffffff8845159e>{:nvidia:_nv008224rm+0} <ffffffff8843c15b>{:nvidia:_nv001754rm+169} <ffffffff8843c1b6>{:nvidia:_nv001753rm+10} <ffffffff88450fcd>{:nvidia:_nv008236rm+641} <ffffffff88455106>{:nvidia:rm_init_adapter+104} <ffffffff8866e7c5>{:nvidia:nv_kern_open+616} <ffffffff80195543>{chrdev_open+387} <ffffffff8018b5b4>{dentry_open+260} <ffffffff8018b734>{filp_open+68} <ffffffff8018a9b3>{get_unused_fd+227} <ffffffff8018b812>{sys_open+82} <ffffffff8010ed7e>{system_call+126} handlers: [<ffffffff88236c50>] (usb_hcd_irq+0x0/0x70 [usbcore]) [<ffffffff88279a40>] (tg3_interrupt_tagged+0x0/0x140 [tg3]) Disabling IRQ #129 Based on your bug report, you have both USB and eth0 sharing IRQ 129. Here are a few things that you can try, however this is likely a BIOS/kernel issue: 0) Change vga=0x31a to vga=normal (and reboot) 1) Upgrade to a much newer kernel (2.6.15.x) 2) Verify that you're using the latest BIOS for the motherboard 3) See if you can reassign IRQs in the BIOS for the NIC and/or USB controller(s). Thanks, Lonni |

0) Does the file I have to modify is: /proc/cmdline?
Where can I find the "vga" parameter? How can I modify it? Thanks. |

I added "irqpoll pci=noacpi pci=biosirq noapic" to my boot parameters modifying /boot/grub/menu.lst and it's now woking fine!
Thanks. |
