uhum I`m apologise if, i`m not posting in the right place, but i didn`t really know where shoud i put this one. I wish to install nvidia Video driver under my PC-BSD, or FreeBSD 6.0 but I wasn`t able to ( , so i`ll need a little help. The videocard is on board, "Motherboard Name PCChips M754LMR (3 PCI, 2 DIMM, Audio, Video, LAN, Modem) Motherboard Chipset ALi M1631 ALADDiN TNT2 System Memory 224 MB (SDRAM) BIOS Type AMI (12/12/00) Communication Port Communications Port (COM1) Communication Port Printer Port (LPT1) Display: Video Adapter NVIDIA Aladdin TNT2 (24 MB) 3D Accelerator nVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Monitor EIZO FlexScan F77 (701926425111) I`m a newbie/noob so if you know how to please, explain me how to install it or, maybe if you know a tutorial... What I did/tryed do and dosen`t work : " #cd /usr/ports/nvidia-driver #make install WITH_LEGACY_GPU_SUPPORT " I edited the /etc/X11 configuration file like: "If you already have an X config file working with a different driver (such as the 'nv' or 'vesa' driver), then all you need to do is find the relevant Device section and replace the line: Driver "nv" (or Driver "vesa") with Driver "nvidia" In the Module section, make sure you have: Load "glx" You should also remove the following lines: Load "dri" Load "GLcore" " But the X dosen`t start, and give errors. If I use "nv" driver my sistem FREEZE and die, keboard dosen`t respond on "ctrl+alt+shif/ctrl+alt+f1" etc. So i assume i need the nVidia videocard drive. I didn`t find on http://www.nvidia.com/object/freebsd_archive.html a driver that will support AlladinTNT2 and freebsd 6.0 ![]() Some of X server configuration that i did tried/ operating sistems are here... http://www.linux.ro/forum/viewtopic....25&forum=37&14 Any suggestions, Ideeas will be welcomed. |

Well I see that nobody came with any suggestion so, i`ve changed the PC . F**k nVidia support for older hardware.
Anyway I GUESS the problem was NOT the video card witch is on board, I GUESS it is/was the NORTHBRIDGE cipset, "Ali". |
