Default eVGA 6600: Driver Installation Kills DVI Output

I just did a fresh install of XP MCE on my HTPC and threw in an eVGA 6600 video vard. If my monitor is connected to the DVI jack on the card with no ForceWare driver installed, my Dell LCD is read as "default monitor" and works just fine (albeit at poor resolutions) when attached to the DVI. The second I install the drivers, however, the DVI jack stops working--the monitor goes straight into power-save mode when I reboot, and I can only get a picture via VGA. DVI output is essential to me for connection to my HDTV. Any clues as to what might be going on? I've tried both the latest drivers and the older ones that came on the CD with the card, and it makes no difference either way.

I assume you have 2 outputs on the card, one vga and one dvi.
Try a second monitor so that both connectors are in use, and you should be able to get to the windows desktop on at least one. Then you should be able to play around with the primary/secondary and which one would be attached.
Set the dvi monitor to be primary, then remove the vga-connected monitor and reboot. It should come up to the desktop on the dvi connector then.

I have an old CRT monitor I keep in the closet for situations just like this, so I dragged it out and connected it to the VGA port of the card and connected the LCD to the DVI. The control panel shows the LCD as connected, but no matter how I tweak the dual-monitor settings, no picture shows up on the monitor connected to the DVI port. When I boot up, POST shows up on both monitors, and if I boot into safe mode or uninstall the driver, I get an identical Windows desktop on both monitors. But when I run the installer, the monitor connected to the DVI jack conks out halfway through the installation process. It's a complete mystery. I'm going to see if there's a BIOS update or a new version of the chipset drivers to see if that makes a difference. Got any other suggestions?

I have also the ASUS A8N-VM CSN motherboard and the same Problem. I can't start a xserver on DVI, but on VGA. Is there a solution for the problem?
bye
