AF 8XHQ
AA 2x (4x is UNPLAYABLE even in indoor area, that 's strange too)
AF 8 X HQ is killing you.

Try to set it at 2 x AF or turn it off completely and you should see an increase in performence.

What I want to see is a in-depth Oblivion performance comparison between 7900GTX SLI and X1900XTX Crossfire. It'll be fun to see wich one gains the upper hand.I say FiringSquad is a likely candidate to be the first to come up with sucha thing, anand also.

Actually, my results weren't valid. I forgot I had installed the Cat 6.3s recently and I wasn't using the settings I thought I was. I still had optimizations on for the XTX and even worse, had AF set to app control instead of being forced on.

With both CPUs running at stock (2.4ghz), 1920x1200, HDR on, 16xAF forced on, optimizations disabled

Thanks for getting it straight. I was wondering about your initial results.

OWA - what area of the game are you doing the test on? Wanted to try and closely compare my figures to yours, if you can let me know roughly where you did it that'd be handy!

Yeah, I shouldn't have posted them while I was at work and couldn't check my settings. Sorry about that.

Oh, tweaks were disabled this time also just to make sure I didn't have differences there as well. I deleted the oblivion ini file on both systems and recreated it.

You know the pier that you see as soon as you make it outside? I went to the end of it and turned around facing the sewer drain I just came out of. I saved it there to use as my starting point on both systems. I then started the benchmark walked down the pier and went slightly to the left and up the hill. I then went to the right slightly staying along the edge until I found an area that I could climb up to along the prison wall. I went along the wall until I reached the bridge. I then walked up the bridge until I reached the level part. I stopped there. I also tried to make it one continuous motion. I'll post a few screenshots to help you find a similiar path. It's hard trying to describe it.

Your not turning off Cat AI standard are you? There is no visual quality loss with this on. It's been proven many times. Because on all my tests the 1900 totally beats the 7900. But then again I didn't do a walk around test. I just did a set scene test with the same saved game file.

I did some walking around the basic areas though and always teh 7900 would dip much lower than the 1900.

Yeah, I did since I was trying to make the settings as equal as possible. Besides having Cat AI on will sometimes cause shimmering so what's the point of having better AF if you're going to ruin it by playing with optimizations on. I did leave the HQ AF off though since I thought that would be more equal to Nvidia's AF.

Screenshots soon...although I'm not sure how much that will help after taking them and looking at it.
