Really, when I use 8xAF I go from 41 to to around 31 FPS with Nvidia.
I don't have this happen on the ATI even using AFHQ8x.

NO AF on Nvidia = 8xHQAF on ATI = same performance.

I think you are ATI bias. It´s okay, I´m NV bias. lol Don´t take it personal, but its kind of weird that you posted this NV performance lack (which has been proven as FALSE by OWA when all OPS are OFF on BOTH cards), not only here on nvnews, but also on [H] and the official OB forums. It almost seems like you are on an ATI payroll to advertise the great new ATI card. Don´t it take personal though.

Hehe No, not on the payroll and the x1900xtx is my first ATI card ever! I'm not returning the 7900 or anything like that. I hope the 7900 works as well as the ATI, I'm all for it. I'm just saying what I've been experiencing.
It's been fun to "geek out" on having both cards and testing them espeically with a "sandbox" like Oblivion.

So no big deal here, I'm just having fun.

I think as long as you are not trying to go beyond the "detected settings" of the game... it should play fine and still be beautiful. Of course you can turn some stuff off and other stuff on to get things looking to your tastes more.

I did some more testing and this was not the case. Sorry I made an error.

These 2 are still true and tested over and over:
I still get overall better FPS on the ATI card.
I still get much less of an AF hit on the ATI card.

Hmm, that doesn't seem to match what I get in regards to AF. The hit seems to be about the same, actually a little less for Nvidia with a single card but it's probably the same (considering it's difficult to take the exact same route every time).

Here are some results I just made. The test is forced 16xAF in the CP versus leaving it at Application Control in the CP. I also wanted to see how the CPU impacted things and the result was, not much, in this test anyway.

Seems like Nvidia cards (7800/7900) just can't cut it in this game!!!!, whereas ATI's X1900 series out preforms any 7800/7900 hands down!

Yeah, pay a fortune for sli 7800GTX 512mb/7900GTX 512mb just for CRAP preformance and ATI are still blowing Nvidia away!!!

I'm no fan-boy but this is starting to ***** me off, Nvidia release new cards every second month that still preform like crap. Hope they can deliver something substantial with there G80 because their current high end cards preformance in Oblivion is nothing short of craptacular in comparison to ATI's high end offering......this is a FACT!

If Nvidia fan-boys want to whinge at this comment then perhaps they had better pull their heads out from where the sun doesn't shine so that they can get a reality check. BIG bucks for suposedly BIG preformance cards for sli that deliver crap preformance is just becoming too lame of a joke, especially when these cards are refreshed every 3 months....pathetic.

So does this game really rock on ATI??????? I am utterly pissed at nVidia!!!!!! Looks like nVidia tried to cut some corners again with its 200 odd million transistor 7900GTX(pirate).


I think I will wait for next generation GPU before I buy Oblivion. Its a shame....

huh? the numbers that whoever just posted indicate the cards seem to perform almost equal... there's a varience, but then agian, isn't it impossible to get the same exact run in this game? So take that in account, they seem to be the same...

yes sandeep it is a shame because the 7900 gt/gtx and 1900 run this game extremly well. And the funniest thing is when you buy that next gen card and the sliders get farther and you get 20-40 frames tops again lol, you going to wait till the gen after that? I mean lets be honest the game is extremly playable im playing past the games settings via ini tweakage, on a 7900 gt.

It's like people can't read or somthing.
