You will need to use rivatuner and set the "Low level fan control" option to on. Then change fan control to manual -> 100% duty cycle. This is going to increase the fan noise though, so you might wanna just leave it at auto which will adjust fan speed depending on the temps (not sure how that is different from the default). There is also an option in the driver control panel to keep the fan ON all the time. Enable that too. I would recommend checking your temps first (can use Rivatuner hardware monitoring graph for that) and see what is the max you reach (try both outdoors and indoors). If it is getting larger than 70, then you might wanna use the fan tweak or reduce the overclocks.

Thanks man! That guys ini nearly doubled the framerate that I had outside and I don´t see any major IQ loss at all. My 6800nu makes me really proud now.

I'll have to give his a shot to see how it goes.

On another note, bringing down the console and setting the FOV to a higher number seems to make the game feel/run smoother for me. I'm not sure why. I was playing in a window at 1600x1200 so I could monitor CPU loads and it was very choppy. Once I brought down the console and changed the FOV to 90 it was much smoother. So then I tried it fullscreen and changed it to 100 (since I was using a widescreen res) and same effect. The framerate doesn't improve but for some reason it feels a lot smoother.

I think that tweak might be best for lower end systems. I noticed a huge difference in IQ...

With that INI...

With my own INI prior to switching... Although... I do like his water settings, they look much better than mine.

I'll have to check out your FOV tip at the console.

Clay, I was comparing his ini with default maxed ingame settings. There are some differences but only noticeable with sceenshots. Definitly meant for lower end systems, since he uses a 6800nu also.

Yes the water by the shore does look nice. What setting changed that I wonder?

Clay...

Use that ini he made, but set the

uGridDistantTreeRange=50
uGridDistantCount=40

And you can still get the distant tree on the far hills...

i am using his INI plus the above mentioned uGrid settings... im running it in 1680x1050 and im getting between 25 and 30 fps in many terrain areas.

Yes you are right though, his water settings do make it look better, in the shallows mainly, but it looks nice.

Also... im wondering if there is a tweak to tone down some of the HDR intensity.

Ive noticed in town at about noon... where the sun is right above... my frames are pretty low...

Have the NVCPL open to your temperature and run Oblivion in windows mode so that you can view your temps in realtime. Or, use programs like Speedfan to log the temps while you play.

In your Oblivion.ini file
------------------------------------
bFull Screen=1
;0 = windowed, 1 = fullscreen

Ah ok, I see what you mean. There are some good things in that INI file for everyone though. I really like how the water looks with his settings (from farther away at least, more natural/translucent looking). I think that's due to the hi res setting being set to 0 oddly enough instead of 1.

Yep, I know, how do you think my second shot looks like it does. There is a lot of what appear to be RGB values for some of the HDR properties but I haven't messed with them yet. Thought I might to see if I can tone down the skin "glow" on your character.

Im pretty sure its
uDepthRange=125

I set it to 250 and it made the water much much clearer when I was above it. Its incredibly irritating that the water is so foggy underneith though. Has anyone found a setting to change this? It looks horrible having the water totaly fogged at about 15 feet.
