Anyhow, when I tried it, I got the feeling I was seeing alot more trees (too lazy to verify...) and I tought mayby there's geometry instancing going on. It's not included in SM2.0, right?
Some people have reported improved performance with it enabled, others have reported no difference. This seems to be the case with most of the tweaks that have been posted though.

From what I remember from old interviews, the developers have said that SM3.0 is mainly used for performance enhancements only. Strange that it would default to being off though.

Uhm... my fix does NOTHING for the water in that picture

It only effects the distance you can see underwater. heh

EDIT: Instructions added to original post about my plugin.

Mmmm nana

EDIT: You know one thing I do want to try to tweak? The reflection quality on distant water. It gets all blocky looking when it gets far away. If theres some way to increase the "resolution" of the water reflection, thatd be awesome.

I found that this made my NPC's pink!! - had to re-install the game to sort it out (word of warning)

Just want to check in and see if anyone has any info. on fixing the Grid=7 water reflection problem?
I've tried but I haven't found a way to fix it when using anything but Grid=5.

Thanks!

Someone on the official forums posted this last night. I'm at work so I can't check their validity but if someone would and post their results it'd be much appreciated.

Well sh*tfire the forums are down...

Anyways now that I am back from work I've actually made **some** progress on getting the water reflection resolved.

I am running the ugridstoload at 9.

In the water area of the ini I changed my settings to this:

fTileTextureDivisor=4.7500
fSurfaceTileSize=256.0000
uNumDepthGrids=9

This resolved the reflection problem using the ugridstoload fix!

However, it caused several issues...**sigh**....
1. Water texture animation is way too fast
2. There are several various missing large square holes (poly?) of water textures.
3. The water surface does not have alpha.

Anyone want to take a stab at tweaking the settings? Maybe we can all get this resolved today.

Yeah I'm making progress...

Check this out:

Use uGridsToLoad=7

fTileTextureDivisor=4.0000
fSurfaceTileSize=8192.0000
uNumDepthGrids=5

It's close but it doesn't quite go far enough... I think I have to up uNumDepthGrids=5 to maybe 7.

Try mine and see if we can fix this, we are close!!!
