Some comparison shots of changing the grass density:

iMinGrassSize=80(default), Avg. FPS=17

iMinGrassSize=120, Avg. FPS=20

iMinGrassSize=150, Avg. FPS=23

iMinGrassSize=200, Avg. FPS=26

These are on a 7800 GTX 256 OCed at 1280x1024, HDR, 8xAF. The FPS values are approximate as I didn't use fraps to do a benchmark run.

A value of around 130 seems to be a good compromise between looks and performance for me.

I wish it had a real grass density setting like Speedtree. Rather than just taking out the patches of grass, it makes less of the little rows of grass. It still keeps them evenly spaced though so it doesnt look much different.

120 & 150 still look decent.

Yea that grass thing is great. That's where most of my frames get chopped in half.

In Additional Direct3d Settings (NVCPL), set "maximum number of frames to render ahead" to 0 from the default value of 3. Edit: It seems the correct way to test this is to start with a value of 2 and keep on decreasing until the lag is gone. It doesn't terribly improve the frame rate (think it actually hurts it) but just removes lag problems. Advisable only if you have a less powerful card.
Where is this setting in the control panel? I don't have it or an "Additional D3D" settings tab with my 84.25 drivers.

Use nvtweak to turn on the additional D3D settings as well as overclocking settings.

Download it here:

So, is this the second part of the equation when changing the FOV setting? I changed the FOV and it made the HUD appear way too high in the scene. Is this the setting to control where the HUD appears or is the status bar something else?

That's not an average FPS, just from that single frame.
