Some comparison shots of changing the grass density:

iMinGrassSize=80(default), Avg. FPS=17

iMinGrassSize=120, Avg. FPS=20

iMinGrassSize=150, Avg. FPS=23

iMinGrassSize=200, Avg. FPS=26

These are on a 7800 GTX 256 OCed at 1280x1024, HDR, 8xAF. The FPS values are approximate as I didn't use fraps to do a benchmark run.

A value of around 130 seems to be a good compromise between looks and performance for me.

I wish it had a real grass density setting like Speedtree. Rather than just taking out the patches of grass, it makes less of the little rows of grass. It still keeps them evenly spaced though so it doesnt look much different.

Yea that grass thing is great. That's where most of my frames get chopped in half.

In Additional Direct3d Settings (NVCPL), set "maximum number of frames to render ahead" to 0 from the default value of 3. So, is this the second part of the equation when changing the FOV setting? I changed the FOV and it made the HUD appear way too high in the scene. Is this the setting to control where the HUD appears or is the status bar something else?

based on the screenshot it looks to be the hud. i dunno exactly though havent used it

That's not an average FPS, just from that single frame.
