Hi,
I've got Solaris 10 03/06, all freely available patches and a W2100z workstation and 8178 driver. The problem is I cannot get openGL working. I'm trying this on ProEngineer CAD software and it's just slow for spinning objects. I've used NVIDIA's utility "/usr/bin/nvidia-settings" and when I click on the "OpenGL/GLX Information" tab I get an error message: "The OpenGL extension 'GLX' is not supported by the X server or there was a problem retrieving GLX information from the X server." Looking at "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" I see the following lines: (II) LoadModule: "glx" (II) Loading /usr/X11/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so (II) Module glx: vendor="NVIDIA Corporation" compiled for 4.0.2, module version = 1.0.8178 Module class: X.Org Server Extension ABI class: X.Org Server Extension, version 0.1 (II) Loading extension GLX (II) LoadModule: "nvidia" (II) Loading /usr/X11/lib/modules/drivers/nvidia_drv.so (II) Module nvidia: vendor="NVIDIA Corporation" compiled for 4.0.2, module version = 1.0.8178 Module class: X.Org Video Driver So it appears everything is loading properly. Can anyone shed light on troubleshooting this down? Paul |

Problem solved.
I looked at the output in /var/log/Xorg.0.log. On one line I found "(EE) GLX is not supported with the Composite extension". With this information, I opened my xorg.conf file and found an entry "Option "Composite" "Enable". I simply changed it to [Option "Composite" "Disable"] and rebooted the computer. |
