Default Performance: 6150 LE, 8300 GS

Hi,

I am thinking about buying a new Dell system. It's mainly for Office/Internet/data evaluation. However, I would like to play some games although it's not important to run them at high quality or high resolution.

The first system uses a "Integrated nVidia GeForce 6150 LE graphics card", the other one a "256MB NVIIDA GeForce 8300GS Turbocache graphics card".

What does "LE" and "GS" mean? Is it better to choose the first one and buy a "better" graphics card if I need it or to choose the 2nd one which already has a separate graphics card instead of an integrated chip?

Thanks!

After some thought and deciphering (maybe it's the vicodin, maybe it's your post, I can't tell right now), it's in your best interest to get the system with the 6150 integrated as long as it has a spare graphics card slot... then get, i dunno, bare minimum of $50 together and you'll be able to get a video card that doubles either one of their performance... something like a 6600GT, a 7300GS, or an 8500...

How do these cards compare to the "Integrated Intel Graphic Media Accelerator X3100" or "Integrated Intel Graphic Media Accelerator 3100" (seems to be the same despite missing "X" in the 2nd one).

Does the 8300GS has it's own memory or does it use RAM ("Turbocache")?

Turbocache cards use system ram, but usually have a tiny bit of onboard ram too (16,32 or 64mb I think).

For your purposes, I'd go with the 8300. It has to be faster than the 6150, and since you don't care about graphic quality there isn't much point in getting a better separate graphics card.

I have a 6150LE in one computer. Just an integrated card. Also have an open pci-e but i dont need anything there since i dont game on this machine. With the 6150, dont think of playing DX9 games like HL2 or Source-engined games. It will be painful. I actually tried to run fear on this machine But older games like CS 1.6, and Half Life, run great. I am sure this is same with most modern integrated cards.

Thanks for your help!

Is this 8300GS better than a 6600GT 128MB AGP8x?

No, the 6600GT would be faster.
