geforce 6200... GLX BadValue crash??

Hi all,

I've just installed a new nvidia graphics card (geforce 6200) and I'm getting the following crash when I try and run a program which needs 3D acceleration:

X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 145 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 27 ()
Value in failed request: 0x0
Serial number of failed request: 13
Current serial number in output stream: 15

As far as i can tell I have successfully installed the 8178 nvidia driver. I followed the instructions at http://home.comcast.net/~andrex/Debi...tallation.html and they seemed to work a treat. I'm running kernel 2.6.15-1-k7 and debian testing... I installed the nvidia-kernel-2.6.15-1-k7 debian package, along with nvidia-glx, and nvidia-kernel-common. Probably not relevant, but I'm using an Athlon 2500+ chip.

I can run glxgears without problem (1700fps) and the tuxracer game, and glxinfo tells me that I've got "direct rendering: yes" (see full glxinfo output below).

So anyone know what's going on? I'm just about at the point of going out and buying another graphics card. But I know this should work... just about everyone else using this program is using an nvidia card without any problems.

ps. Don't know whether it is relevant, but the program I'm trying to run uses the GLX_SGIX_pbuffer extension... glxinfo reckons that I've got the GLX_SGIX_puffer extension installed but I don't know how to test whether it is correctly installed and working.

Is this on a new install? if not try reinstalling... oh and btw this should go in the linux forums
