Hi all,
I've just installed a new nvidia graphics card (geforce 6200) and I'm getting the following crash when I try and run a program which needs 3D acceleration: X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation) Major opcode of failed request: 145 (GLX) Minor opcode of failed request: 27 () Value in failed request: 0x0 Serial number of failed request: 13 Current serial number in output stream: 15 As far as i can tell I have successfully installed the 8178 nvidia driver. I followed the instructions at http://home.comcast.net/~andrex/Debi...tallation.html and they seemed to work a treat. I'm running kernel 2.6.15-1-k7 and debian testing... I installed the nvidia-kernel-2.6.15-1-k7 debian package, along with nvidia-glx, and nvidia-kernel-common. Probably not relevant, but I'm using an Athlon 2500+ chip. I can run glxgears without problem (1700fps) and the tuxracer game, and glxinfo tells me that I've got "direct rendering: yes" (see full glxinfo output below). So anyone know what's going on? I'm just about at the point of going out and buying another graphics card. But I know this should work... just about everyone else using this program is using an nvidia card without any problems. Hope someone can help....! Thanks, Solly ps. Don't know whether it is relevant, but the program I'm trying to run uses the GLX_SGIX_pbuffer extension... glxinfo reckons that I've got the GLX_SGIX_puffer extension installed but I don't know how to test whether it is correctly installed and working. pps. glxinfo, xorg.conf, and Xorg.log output below: ################ # glxinfo ################ name of display: :0.0 display: :0 screen: 0 direct rendering: Yes server glx vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation server glx version string: 1.3 server glx extensions: GLX_EXT_visual_info, GLX_EXT_visual_rating, GLX_SGIX_fbconfig, GLX_SGIX_pbuffer, GLX_SGI_video_sync, GLX_SGI_swap_control, GLX_ARB_multisample, GLX_NV_float_buffer, GLX_ARB_fbconfig_float client glx vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation client glx version string: 1.3 client glx extensions: GLX_ARB_get_proc_address, GLX_ARB_multisample, GLX_EXT_visual_info, GLX_EXT_visual_rating, GLX_EXT_import_context, GLX_SGI_video_sync, GLX_NV_swap_group, GLX_NV_video_out, GLX_SGIX_fbconfig, GLX_SGIX_pbuffer, GLX_SGI_swap_control, GLX_NV_float_buffer, GLX_ARB_fbconfig_float GLX extensions: GLX_EXT_visual_info, GLX_EXT_visual_rating, GLX_SGIX_fbconfig, GLX_SGIX_pbuffer, GLX_SGI_video_sync, GLX_SGI_swap_control, GLX_ARB_multisample, GLX_NV_float_buffer, GLX_ARB_fbconfig_float, GLX_ARB_get_proc_address OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation OpenGL renderer string: GeForce 6200/AGP/SSE/3DNOW!
