Default Anyone ever see nvidia drivers incorrectly detect Dual Link?

I was wondering if anyone has ever seen the nvidia drivers detect incorrectly whether it was DUAL TMDS (dual-link DVI) or not. I cant for the life of me get a 3007WFP I have working, I just get lines, Xorg.0.log says this:

(**) NVIDIA(0): Use of NVIDIA internal AGP requested
(**) NVIDIA(0): FlatPanelProperties string: "Scaling = aspect-scaled"
(--) NVIDIA(0): Linear framebuffer at 0xC0000000
(--) NVIDIA(0): MMIO registers at 0xDD000000
(II) NVIDIA(0): NVIDIA GPU detected as: G70
(--) NVIDIA(0): VideoBIOS: 05.70.02.19.12
(--) NVIDIA(0): Interlaced video modes are supported on this GPU
(II) NVIDIA(0): Detected PCI Express Link width: 16X
(--) NVIDIA(0): VideoRAM: 262144 kBytes
(II) NVIDIA(0): Connected display device(s): DFP-0, DFP-1
(--) NVIDIA(0): DFP-1: maximum pixel clock: 330 MHz
(--) NVIDIA(0): DFP-1: Internal Dual Link TMDS
(

Any Idea's why it wouldnt work?

The Dell 3007WFP 30" flatpanel will be supported in the next released driver.

However, I'm not clear on why you think dual link isn't being correctly detected.

Thanks,

because it doesnt work in any of the windows drivers at the full resolution either, I just get lines on the screen for several seconds then it goes black, sometimes the lines stay, thats why.

-- This is a laptop by the way...

I used this information to decide on if I should by the screen or not, I really needed the full resolution to be supported, Because no information would tell me if the card is dual-link or not I used the information from linux since on all my other nvidia cards it says single link and max of 165 Mhz instead of 330 MHz, Any utilities in windows to show if its dual link or not? running this display at 1280x800 REALLY SUCKS.

The output that you already posted indicates that you have dual link TMDS:
DFP-1: Internal Dual Link TMDS

I'm afraid that I can't answer questions about Windows behavior. You should not experience problems in Linux with the Dell 30" DFP, once the next driver is available.

Lonni

Man I sure hope so, I am almost thinking this is some weird thing, Is it possible that the card itself has the dual TMDS but its where the DVI port hooks up to the motherboard, all the stuff isnt hooked up? The other issue is that I dont get any picture in the BIOS/linux/windows booting screen, until the system is up and running completely and the drivers are being used, then only 1280x800 works, its almost as if the card thinks its dual link (firmware) and the hardware isnt or something, like its trying to do scaling on the card outputting at 2560x1920 but it doesnt work. Otherwise I would think the card would work in the BIOS, or on my boot loader, when i hit fn+f8 to output to the external monitor.

What do you think?

Is it possible it is dual link and just disabled in the firmware? if that was the case would it still say dual link like that with the nvidia drivers or would it indicate single link if that was the case?

This is just driving me nuts. I can wait for being able to run linux at the full 2560x1600 but I would like to have atleast windows working at the full resolution, argh....

Well I will try the 8756, according to you these drivers should support the 8756 right? Do I need a special modeline or will the apple one work?

Ok so a Couple of things changed, it detects the display now and everything however I still get either no pictures, or lines, here is my xorg.0.log:

http://www.houkouonchi.net/3007wfp/Xorg.0.log

Here is probably the relevant information:
(**) NVIDIA(0): TwinView enabled

(--) NVIDIA(0): VideoRAM: 262144 kBytes

(II) NVIDIA(0): Virtual screen size determined to be 2560 x 800
(--) NVIDIA(0): DPI set to (131, 132); computed from "UseEdidDpi" X config option

nvidia-settings program also shows dual link:

Also, 1280x800 wont even work now

Please start X with the following command:
startx -- -logverbose 6

and then generate and post an nvidia-bug-report.log.

Thanks,
Lonni

Here is some more information, I did take the display to my friends house who has the M170 notebook, basically the same thing, except his had the geforce go 6800 ultra instead and it did the exact same thing as mine is doing, just lines, or black, Usually th elines only stay for a couple seconds and it flashes like every 1 or 1.5 second then goes black and does lines again, repeats this about 3 times then goes black. Rarely the lines just stay there.

I did try the monitor on his macbook pro though which was able to drive it perfectly @ 2560x1600 and abunch of other resolutions, so the monitor seems to be fine, this is such a weird issue.

The weridest part of this for me is that I cant even get a picture when I use fn+f8 to switch to the external monitor in the BIOS or boot menu before any drivers/OS is loaded, it does the exact same thing, lines then black.

First, I'd suggest commenting out all of the modelines in your X configuration, especialy "1280x800".

Second, your X configuration is currently trying to drive the 30" DFP at 1280x800, however I don't see that mode in the EDID. Does the documentation list 1280x800 as a valid mode? Have you tried using its native mode of "2560x1600"?

Has Dell told you that you can drive their 30" DFP on this laptop?

Thanks,
Lonni
