Default Curing Vampirism

Is there anyway to cure vampirism? Apperenlty I contracted the disease in the game while on the grey prince quest it would have been nice if you know they had used a icon to actually TELL me that I had the disease. Anyways I am a vampire now is there anyway to become human again? I don't have any save files far enough back to save myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a quest to find a cure but I dont know much about it.

Do you have any saves as far back as before your last rest? As far as I know, you dont contract vampirism on the spot. You first get a common disease from the vampires (can never remember what its called... something hemosomething) and then when you sleep with that disease, you get bitten in the night.

So if you have any saves from before you slept, you might be able to go back to there.

At that point you can just use a simple cure disease potion.

Sadly I just use about 10 saved files or so. This wouldn't have been a problem if you know the game some how ****ing TOLD ME I had the ******* diease. I found the quest for the cure and its complete ****ing bull****. Its super long just to get rid of something I never wanted in the first place! I had to stop playing before I smashed my xbox in pure fury.

go to any chapel to begin the quest. also, if u search on yahoo, ' How to cure vampirism in Oblivion? ' theres a mod that adds a potion for it in the dark brotherhood sanctuary in the Mysterious Chest. there is a key in the sanctuary sumwhere for it that im trying to find. the actual quest to cure vamprism is toguh because i dont know how to clear the souls out of the grand soul gems. and your right, its a huge pain. thyey could at least make the quest easy like getting 1 grand soul gem and few ingredients u can buy. and talking to a thousand ppl to it b4 u get to the witch is gay. o well i still love the game 2 death

Actually the game tells you when you contract disease. And if you miss the message, you can always check your status report page to see if your stats are altered and why. Useful because some opponents use some permanent altering curses/magic/poisons too.

You've 3 days from catching the disease to becoming a vampire. And never, ever enter a vampire lair without a potion of cure disease in your inventory. Even if you are not sure if you catched porphiric emophilia, when you exit the den, you can drink a potion and be sure you won't turn into a vampire.

Back to your original question, you need 5 garlic pieces and some two more ingredients which are almost only found in Oblivion planes (thus if you already finished the main quest you're pretty much framed). Atop of this, you'll need a lot of greater soul gems, which may be tricky to find because, as any other loot in the game, they're random and levelled items, thus they won't be found at early levels.

I see the 'diseases contracted' stat in the stats list, but how can I tell what current disease(s) I might have, and what it is called? I think i was lucky, I did get a disease after an early vampire quest, but drank a cure disease potion before sleeping, or much time had passed. Days as vampire is still zero.

If you highlight one of the stat bonus/malus the program telles you by what artifact/curse/disease is caused.

The safest way to avoid contracting vampirism is always to drink a cure disease potion after having fought vampires. You've 3 days of time.

****CURE****

If your part of the darkbrother hood, you can talk to Vincetti* the vampire (head of darkbrotherhood in chynindale*). If you talk to him you have the option to chose "Cure for Vampirism". He than sends you to a person at the Arcane University in the Imperial City. Then she sends you to a Lord of Skingrad, he then tells you about his wife that has vampirism, so he wants to to get some for her and you and sends you to a witch (freindly one, lol). Then, you have to collect 5 grand soul gems****YOU CAN BUY THEM FROM PEOPLE INSIDE THE MAGE GUILD FOR AROUND 300-400 GOLD, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SEARCH FOR THEM, IT TAKES AWHILE! go buy them, do not look for them. Next, you give them to the witch, then you need to find some ingrediants. Which are nightshade plant, glaric, blood plant (inside oblivion gate), argonean blood (you recieve i knife from her and have to stab an argonean), and i think you have to find something else, it is kinda a bit*h to find. BUt you end up giving her the ingrediants and she makes the potion in 24 hours, you then get it, drink one for your self, then go to the lord of skingrad and go on from there. I think these are in order, i just thought of it off my head. I hope this helps.

Ty.

What do you do for a blood plant if you've already closed all the Oblivion gates?

hmm...i never thought about that...well if your done the oblivion crisis i dont know if u can get a cure. This may be way out of range but i can only think of one way, i think you can sell blood plant...hmm....if you have already harvested blood plant before, and sold it to somebody u could go back to them and they'll have it in there inventory to buy back...because every plant that is new to me i harvest it. So if u have harvested and remember who you sold it to, you'll have it.. sry dude thats all i could think of.

The blood plant is still around the destroyed Oblivion gates woo hoo! Now the only thing I can't find is the Nightshade plant. I remember seeing these flowers somewhere but can't remember. Anyone remember where to harvest Nightshade flowers?

I used to be a vampire too but then i found the cure (spoke to the witch, gathered the ingredients, etc). I bought the Bloodgrass in the First Ingredient (Market district) and all the rest of the ingredients in different stores from all districts of Imperial City, i wasn't difficult at all.
