Is it possible to have it detect my DFP as DFP-0, rather than the correct name?
I wonder if that's related?

I'd just like to say I have the same problem. Using gentoo/xorg 7. Games Ive tried it on were Q3/Q4 and ut2004. Although I'd hazard a guess that it affects any fullscreen OpenGL app that needs to sclae the res to the screen size.

It'll affect changing to any resolution that isn't native.

Most games, if X can't do the proper resolution, you'll see a box in the middle of your screen. The screen is still running at 1280x1024

It's supposed to actually switch to say, 800x600 driver side, and then scale it up. The new drivers can do this still. If X can go to that resolution, so can games.

ctrl-alt + or - near the numpad will switch resolution, as will KDE's KRandrTray program, and the screen configure program. If you only have 1280x1024 listed, then you need to add other resolutions to the X config by hand.

If you add other resolutions manually, your games will still go full screen, and scale it up. The latest driver doesn't seem to work with the DFP scaling setting though. Even if the game will still scale up full screen when dropping the resolution below native, in order to maintain aspect ratio, there should be a bar on top and bottom on most screens if you're running the "aspect-scaled" scaler. The new drivers don't seem to work, I select it, and nothing happens, same with centered.

Do the scaler settings work for anyone? You should be able to use aspect-scaled, or centered. They worked fine in the last release, here.

Hi Lonni

I'm attaching my bug-report log.

Your questions:

* ConnectedMonitor in your X configuration
* Ignoring the EDIDFreqs
* Coolbits

I'm not using any of these.

Which games? All opengl games I've tried, which consists of xmoto (xmoto.sourceforge.net) and ut2004-demo

As far as I can tell, any OpenGL app behaves like that when running in fullscreen mode.

I've got the same problem with the latest driver. And I have a CRT. Not changed anything in the config. Also already tried several different settings without any change. I'm going to add a banana to this post because it looks funny.

I've just come from the Slackware forum and I thought y'all might like an interrim solution for this whole full-screen problem.

http://www.kaear.co.uk/projectdisp.asp?ID=62

Ripped straight from the blurb:

Quote:
So I run dual monitors, right? And dual monitors with nVidia gives me Twinview, right? Ok, so there's Twinview making my box all pr0, but wait!

* Linux games detect my resolution as 2560x1024 and plaster themselves over both monitors - playing UT2004 with a 3 inch gap where your targetting reticle is supposed to be is hard!.
* The games I play under Wine are mostly old and small (800x600 or less). With one 1280x1024 monitor that window will be tiny, but when using two, even not close together, it's just silly.

Thus this script was born. The final result is a single full-screen game (or any other program for that matter) on one monitor for the duration of play. It's just like (dare I say it) when Windows switches your resolution for a fullscreen game - but nicer
The code is totally script, so driver agnostic, you need never worry about updating your drivers again =)

Take it easy,
- Piete.

I'm afraid that this bug is not publicly viewable.
