How about 768x576 resolution? 720x576 has wrong aspect ratio.

No 1024x768 seems to be the only one that works for me. I'm quite happy with that at the moment - I would have used it with previous drivers if it had been available.

geezer,
I'm not clear on where you are seeing the 51Hz refresh rate. Is this on the TV or CRT? By 'changing' the resolution do you mean with ctrl-alt-+ or some other mechanism? Also, where are you reading the refresh rate?

The only thing that I do see that might be a problem is that you've specified the VertRefresh for the TV to be 60 in your X configuration, so that could prevent it from doing anything above 60.

Thanks,
Lonni

I'm using gnome-display-properties to change res (also checked in kcontrol) where it basically says resolution and refresh rate for main crt, but will allow changing between metamode settings.

I got 800x600 to work by switching "TVStandard" from "NTSC-M" to "HD480i".

Hi, After updating to 8756, I can't get my TV to run in 720x576 @50Hz Interlaced. I used to be able to do it with the following config, but now when I run with the existing config (see below), X starts up in 1024x768 with warnings. Any ideas?

Thanks! That worked for me.
I have only connected a tv, no crt.

here is an extract of the relevant lines in my xorg.conf

Section "Screen"
SubSection "Display"
Virtual 800 600
Depth 24
Modes "800x600" "1280x1024" "1024x768" "640x400"
EndSubSection

Section "Device"
Option "TVStandard" "HD480i"
Option "UseDisplayDevice" "TV-0"

I still recommend nvtv to set up the modes, right after x has started because it gives much stronger colours and better use of the whole display.

cheers, cafeschintze

Hi. I fixed my tv, so I'm unburying the topic. I agree that 800x600 stopped working, and was working with previous driver release. I got 1024x768 and 640x480 to work on PAL-B and NTSC-M. My question is, does the desktop size affect the resolution of an image displayed on the tv? I read somewhere that s-video is always either 640x480 or 768x576, so the desktop size would only affect only how much fits in the screen, right?

800x600 not working in 1.0-8756 is a known bug, and should be resolved in the next driver release.

Thanks,
Lonni

Thanks for the clarification. And how about 768x576? Why is that mode not working (was it ever ok)? Is it caused by x.org or by the drivers? It would be the best one for PAL and HD576i/p modes.

Now that Twinview isn't working correctly does anyone have a working Xinerama setup for me that does work? Eg one that I can use when I have the TV cable plugged in or out (of course when it isn't plugged in I don't want to see the second screen at all, or disable easily through the GUI, KDE?)
I gave it a try but failed miserably and it has already taken hours

The problem with Twinview, as stated earlier is that with the new driver mplayer for example doesn't work when going full-screen, I lose about half the image :s
