Default GeForce 4200Ti Mandriva 2006 free Cannot change resolutions!!!

This didn't make NVidia driver installation easy. Finally after I succeeded and got 3d acceleration working better than it was told to there's a major problem: no resolution changes possible. Why is this? Only option I have is 1280x1024 (at 85Hz). I had used "plf rpm" since none of the nvidias own drivers worked, the ones you can download from there(I know how to install them since I've done it before!). Bug is Mandriva 2006. Here's my xorg.conf:

1.0-8756 requires that all modes have a unique name. The X configuration that you posted isn't explicitly requesting any modes, so you're defaulting to the virtual 1280 1024. If you wish to use a different mode, I'd suggest commenting out the Virtual line, and adding a Mode.

This topic has already been discussed in a few other threads here on this forum.

Thanks,
Lonni

Thanks. I tried to find similar thread among this forum but couldn't find one. I have to try commeting virtual lines the right way, although not sure how really.

No, don't know how to do it, tried but still 1280x1024 is my only option. Call me stupid or whatever but I really don't know how to do it the right way.

....And right after this post I realized how to...it was too simple. Sometimes we people try too hard ending up in difficult methods...after all, all I had to do was to write nvidia-xconfig --mode ?x? (? being the resolution I desired). One more thing learned.
