Default 8756: cannot compute backend DFP timings (no EDID)

NVIDIA(0): Unable to use mode "blah" for DFP-0; cannot compute backend DFP timings (no EDID).

I have my HDTV connected to DVI. This occurs for modelines that worked with 7676.

it then reverts to:
(II) NVIDIA(0): Setting mode "nvidia-auto-select"

which is completely wrong...

You can try adding the ExactModeTimingsDVI option to your X configuration. If that doesn't help, then please start X with the following command:
startx -- -logverbose 6

and then generate and post an nvidia-bud-report.log.
