Hello,
with my old nforce2-Board the onboard-sound worked perfectly with the nvsound-module. Now I'm using a Gigabyte K8N-SLI Board with nforce4 SLI - Chipset (Hardware model: nforce 4, Hardware Revision: a2, Audio-Driver 1.0-7, Kernel 2.6.15, Code Manufacturer: Realtek, Codec Model: ALC850), and Hardwaremixing seems to be broken. /dev/dsp can't be opened if e.g. amarok(xine->oss) is running. Is there any solution or have I to wait until the next nforce-driver? Thanks |

The nforce4 audio codec is basicly a standard AC97 codec which doesn't support hardware mixing. The nforce2 was able to use both the codec and a APU which could do the hardware mixing but this isn't the case for the nforce4. I would use alsa which can do software mixing.
