Default Quadro FX not correctly detecting monitor?

When I upgraded to the latest drivers (8756) from nVidia, Ubuntu starts up and loads normally until the it reaches the GDM login screen. Instead of a login screen, the screen turns strange colors and is unresponsive (pics below). CTRL-ALT-F1 still works and takes me to terminal. Any ideas as to what went wrong? I've tried this upgrade multiple times. This happens in both Breezy and Dapper.

I have a nVidia QuadroFX go1000 128mb video module.
I was running the 686-SMP kernel in Dapper and the normal 386 kernel in Breezy.

Downgrading to 8178 works, although I haven't been able to get xgl/compiz to work again (it did work before the upgrade). So right now I'm stuck with the 'nv' drivers.

I also attached a verbose Xorg.0.log and my xorg.conf

Default Re: Quadro FX not correctly detecting monitor?

Here's the problem:
(--) NVIDIA(0): Valid VRefresh Range : 0Hz - 60Hz
(--) NVIDIA(0):
(--) NVIDIA(0): Detailed Timings:
(--) NVIDIA(0): 1680 x 1050 @ 61Hz
(--) NVIDIA(0): Pixel Clock : 121.40 MHz
(--) NVIDIA(0): HRes, HSyncStart : 1680, 1728
(--) NVIDIA(0): HSyncEnd, HTotal : 1760, 1840
(--) NVIDIA(0): VRes, VSyncStart : 1050, 1052
(--) NVIDIA(0): VSyncEnd, VTotal : 1058, 1080
(--) NVIDIA(0): H/V Polarity : -/-

The native mode seems to require a 61Hz refresh rate, even though the EDID is claiming that the valid vrefresh range is capped at 60Hz. Try setting the UseEdidFreqs option to False, and see if that helps. If it doesn't please generate and post an nvidia-bug-report.log
