Question Mouse animation flickers with 8756 + FC5

Anyone else seeing this? FC5 comes with a mouse cursor animation when system is busy; this animation plays smoothly with the native 'nv' driver (which is sloooow for everything else), but with 8756 driver the animation flickers to the point of being annoying. Is there any xorg.conf setting to fix this?

This is a known bug (and has been discussed in a few other threads). The workaround is to either not use an animated mouse cursor, or use disable the HardwareCursor.

Thanks,
Lonni

This bug has been known for quite some time now. Is it something that can't be fixed by nVidia? Or does it just have very low priority?

It is currently prioritized behind other bugs.

Hi Lonni,

I tried to find information about how to disable animated cursors, but could not find it. Could you please point me to some docs that will help me do it? (I'd like to keep HadrwareCursor enabled)

TIA

Andre

I'm afraid that disabling the HWCursor is the workaround.

Thanks,
Lonni

But disabling the HWCursor is hardly a winning workaround, as that then causes problems with windowed openGL as the cursor disappears...
