Default Incorrect rejection of valid screen sizes

I'm using the nvidia-auto-select method of determining valid modelines and I'm getting a strange error with one of my external monitors.

Basically the external monitor is a 1680x1050 device and my laptop internal monitor is a 1920x1200 display. During initialization the 1680x1050 screen resolution is rejected because it claims it is too big for the INTERNAL display to handle.

This config file when I hook it up to an external 1920x1200 monitor (albiet not with DVI as the 1680x1050 monitor is)

Is this a bug or am I missing something?

According to your X log, your internal flat panel has only one mode in its EDID:
1920 x 1200 @ 62Hz

and that mode is getting rejected:
(WW) NVIDIA(0): Mode is rejected: VertRefresh (61.8 Hz) out of range
(WW) NVIDIA(0): (0.000-60.000 Hz).

I don't see where the 1680x1050 mode has any relationship to getting the wrong mode on the internal DFP.

You can try setting UseEdidFreqs to false, which might fix the problem above. If you need further assistance, please generate and post an nvidia-bug-report.log.

Thanks,
Lonni

I'm looking at these lines:

(II) NVIDIA(0): Validating Mode "1680x1050":
(II) NVIDIA(0): 1680 x 1050 @ 60Hz
(II) NVIDIA(0): Mode Source: X Server
(II) NVIDIA(0): Pixel Clock : 147.14 MHz
(II) NVIDIA(0): HRes, HSyncStart : 1680, 1784
(II) NVIDIA(0): HSyncEnd, HTotal : 1968, 2256
(II) NVIDIA(0): VRes, VSyncStart : 1050, 1051
(II) NVIDIA(0): VSyncEnd, VTotal : 1054, 1087
(II) NVIDIA(0): H/V Polarity : -/+
(II) NVIDIA(0): Mode is valid.
(II) NVIDIA(0):
(WW) NVIDIA(0): Mode "1680x1050" is too large for NVIDIA Default Flat Panel
(WW) NVIDIA(0): (DFP-0); discarding.

DFP-0 is capable of 1920x1200

Perhaps this would be solvable if the display change button worked under Linux. For some reason it only works under Windows. Is there some setting that I'm missing that may control that?

According to the EDID, "1680x1050" is not a native mode for your internal flat panel. I'm still not clear why you are focused on this when its not a relevant data point.

The file that you attached isn't a bug report.

Thanks,
Lonni
