Default GeForce 6800 Wrong Resolution

Hi,

I've a GeForce 6800 graphic-card in a debian linux system, the card has to connectors, a dvi and an normal vga and I've two LCD (Eizo L771 1600x1200).

The problem is, that i'm not able to get the 1600x1200 resolution on the LCD connected at the vga-connector. The maximum I get is 1600x1024.
I tried several X-Server and use the NVIDIA-Driver 1.0-8756.
I get no errors in the Xorg.0.log.

Has anyone an idea, whats going on??

PS: Before I'd used a Matrox-Card with 2x 1600x1200, with no problems and both screen have the same problem on the vga-connector. The screen on the dvi-connecte (with dvi-vga adapter) ist fine with 1600x1200.

Please start X with the following command:
startx -- -logverbose 5

and then generate and post an nvidia-bug-report.log.

Thanks,
Lonni

Please find attached the nvidia-bug-report.log

I've made the report in twinview mode both screens setup to 1600x1200.
The result is, that the vga-screen has 1600x1024 and the dvi (vga-adapter) screen has 1600x1200.

thanks

How or where are you determining that you're not getting 1600x1200?

The only problems that I see in your bug report are:
0) You are using the ConnectedMonitor option, and its not clear why.
1) You have set a Virtual desktop of '3200 1200'. I'd suggest commenting this out unless you have a good reason to be setting it that way.

Thanks,
Lonni

I see it on my LCD. The Info-Button of the LCD gives "1600x1024 @ 60Hz"
and the display has two "bars" (one at the top and one at the bottom). So the remaining display has a height of 1024 (the height of the "bars" must be about 88 pixels -> 2x88 + 1024 = 1200).
The control of the display behaves like having 1200, but a can't access the area hidden by the "bars"...

In the logfile everything looks fine (as far as I can see) - but the screen gets 1600x1024 @ 60 Hz.

There is no difference if I use the ConnectedMonitor Option or if I set an virtual desktop or not.
I've exact the same behavior when I use only one screen, at the vga-connector.

Does it make sense, to send an bug-report-log of the configuration with only one screen connected and without twinview?

Thanks

Additional information: I tried an older TI4600 GeForce Card with exactly the same result!
My I try an older nvidia-driver?

You can certainly try older drivers, however if X thinks that its running 1600x1200, then I'm not sure where things are breaking down.

Generating another bug report with a single display, might be useful, if for no other reason than to simplify things and eliminate some variables.

Thanks,
Lonni
