Default nvidia installed but no rendering

I have ubuntu darren with nvidia-glx installed properly. I have also xgl but they go very very slow and no 3d games like neverball. Xorg.conf is ok!!

some info:
glxinfo |grep render
direct rendering: No
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect

Running Xgl will always give you less performance in OpenGL applications, such as games. I get about 1/3 the perfomance here. If you want to run games, it's recommended that you start them on another X server. Using the Dapper provided driver will also likely give you less of an headache.

What distro are you using, and how did you setup Xgl/compiz? The mesaGL libraries is only needed for loading compiz and should just be LD_PRELOAD'ed when starting it.

i have ubuntu darren. I put nvidia on xorg.conf with allowrender option and another one that now i don't remember. I did:
apt-get install xserver-xgl compiz-gnome libglitz-glx1 libgl1-mesa
sudo ln -sf /usr/bin/Xgl /etc/X11/X
echo "compiz --replace gconf decoration wobbly fade minimize move place resize scale switcher cube rotate zoom" >> ~/.gnomerc
echo "nohup gnome-window-decorator &" >> ~/.gnomerc

with nvidia-kernel-common and nvidia-glx xgl start but works veeeeery slow and no rendering(tested by glxinfo)
without nvidia-kernel-common and nvidia-glx and with the latest version of nvidia official driver x doesn't start and tell "failed to load glx module and nvidia module"
