I'd rather pay the $20US than the $50AUD just for a DVD. Should have done the same for SiN. I would buy the retail version if they had more than just a DVD and reference card.

My $.02

Didn't read the entire thread, but wanted to post my opinion in HL2: Episode one.

I loved it! Best $20.00 I've spent in a long while.

I'm looking forward to Episode 2 and 3.

Are you guys with SLI using the default profile for this game, or did you create a custom profile? If you are using custom, could you post the specifics?

Thanks for the help. I just don't understand why it stutered so badly on my rig. Anyone else able to run this game @ 1920x1600 on their SLI rig stuter free?

Seems like it might be about time for a good old windows rebuild.

I've only played it a little but it seemed okay at 1920x1200 4xAA/16xAF for me. I just used the predefined value. Like I said though, I haven't gotten very far along yet.

It's very short, BUT it looks decent still, the HDR is not over-done and the commentary aspect is fabulous.

Finish it, then finish it again with commentary, it ROCKS

I turned up the settings from 2xAA and 4xAF to 4x16 @ 1920*1600 and it is smooth as butter. I get all kinds of stutter when I play at a lower resolution and settings with SLI enabled. Guess, I just wasn't pushing the old girl hard enough.

This really is a great game.

I played and finished it at a friends place and it was good, but honestly, not good enough to spend $20 on it. IŽll buy once they release all 3 (or 4) episodes at once.

I did a similar thing. It was ok but it didn't feel like they went anywhere with the story. It's also kinda silly to end it with alyx and gordon being in the middle of an explosion again.

The HDR wasn't as bad as the CS maps are, but they still overdid it in many places IMO.
