Well since my 360 broke, I decided to get Episode 1. Not bad, I'm really enjoying it so far. Here are some screens I took. It runs and looks awesome:

(love the Kid A logo on the steering wheel)

EDIT:

Well I just finished it.... and it was good while it lasted. It was nice to get some more HL2 action.

OK .. WTF .. I paid $20 for this f*cking thing and I beat it in 3 hours?!?!? Thats just F*CKED UP! It was fun as hell... but WAY to short for the price. Gameplay = great ..... price = total rip off.

I really don't get why episodic content means Valve shouldn't bother with new weapons/vehicles. I mean the only thing new in this whole thing were "zombines".... wtf Valve?

in the room with the water you flip the switch which opens the door, it also makes the water charged and hurts you (homage to hl1 perhaps?) so you will need to use some familar tricks that you used in hl2 to get across with the swtich on.

Took 4-5 hours to finish, played over two sessions, on normal difficulty which was a challenge at times. Got stuck on some puzzles for a short time, but nothing too hard. Was a bit of fun, though half way through, I was still more inclined to play a round of Battlefield 2 than finish it. I was disapointed by too many dark areas, with that silly torch, no vehicles to drive (which was surprisingly fun in HL2), and too much repetition in some areas. Overall, not fun enough for me, and twice as expensive as I would have liked. I won't be buying any future episodes. I actually enjoyed playing a mod called Pythagoras mistake, and some other mod I forget the name of more than this. It would probably have been more enjoyable with commentary, the Lost Coast certainly was.

Me either unless they are $10. $20 is way to much for 4 hours play (at least thats the time xfire logged I played it... and that includes menu time)

not to be redundant -- but as a huge half-life fan my thoughts on Episode One are:

Negatives:

- too dark in many areas. i kept thinking of doom 3 in the back of my mind. I had to bump up the in-game gamma way higher than i should have had to.

- too short. seemed more like a $10 episode.

- no major new/unique "bosses" or climax to the game.

- no new weapons, stationary weapons, or vehicles

- not many answers to the HL mysteries.

- AI is decent but doesnt seem improved much over HL2.

Positives:

- nice mix of action/puzzles. nothing too frustrating which is always good.

- source engine looks/runs as good as ever.

- alyx is pretty nice to have on your team. she actually does help out many times and saves you ammo.
