In spite of stating in the other thread that I would never...well I did, got the dvd and so far am very happy with it. If hl2 were this well done I would never have noticed the stuttering, which I still have btw.

Pretty as a picture (yeah I know..)

Just saw this, my dvd is 3.11 gigs, it updated the steam platform files and decrypted in less than 15 minutes. It's all on the dvd, just open it and see.

Yeah when I installed it showed over 3gig needed with eveything, and over 2gigs with just the episode one content.

It was definately a great game but can someone tell me why it took 2 years to develop? No new weapons, 1 new monsters, and a bunch of repeated textures and environments. Unless they release Episode 2 really quickly (i.e. 2-3 months) then "episodic gaming" is pretty much a failure.

Also, WTF is up with not answering ANY questions? Not a single one. Plus, it brought up some new ones. These writers are worst than those LOST guys. At least we get some answers with LOST...

Only 35 minutes in but so far enjoying it, It definately has an added polish to the gfx not seen in the original HL2 and the gameplay is fun , Runs awesome on my rig at 1600x1024 /w max settings.

At least it tells how they escaped! Even though its not realistic at all, considering radiated heat travels at the speed of light, so both people, being that close the center of a nulclear explosion, would have been vaporized by the time the vortagons came through.

My post caused confusion. The game content is actually on the disc, but you must install halflife2DM and halflifesourceDM at the same time or it will make you download the whole episode one. Installing all three, instead of just episode one, took me from 42 hours of downloading down to under one hour. Sorry for my frequent emotional rants. I've gotta quite drinking in the morning...P.S. the whole idea of string based teleportation and such would lead me to belive that the vortigaunts[and g-man] have the technology and can intercede and act faster than the speed of electromagnetic waves[ I.E. light, heat, or any other], or simply move through time to any point they choose, but since the physical explosion wave had almost reached Alex, I assume any x, gamma, and infra-red waves would of reached and vaporized her by then. They also appear to be able to stop time, or immensly slow it down, which is only possible near a large mass due to space time warping... Just more questions that probobly will not be answered, since its JUST A GAME. Valve isn't into answering questions, just creating more lol.

WOW! I think this says it best:

Haven't beaten it yet, I got to get up early for work- so I'll probably finish it tomorrow after work. This game runs like a dream on my 6800GT. And I've down graded my rig with some crappy DDR333 CAS3 ram, and a "screwed up" HD config- but still it runs beautifully, even with HDR.

I'm thuroughly impressed thus far and feel that this game was fully with the $20 I paid for it. Also, I'm thuroughly impressed with how well it is programmed, having the graphics at 1280x1024 with everything else maxed and it is smooth as butter. Not bad for a 3 year old GPU.

I highly encourage people to pick up a copy if they don't have one already. I went ahead and bought the DVD as I like having an actual physical copy of the game. And, atleast not yet, I don't regret getting it.

Now, I just can't wait to run it on my new rig once I get it going.

I hear that. They need to be putting out simular work every 3-4 months if they aren't adding SUBSTANTIAL content. And if you are going to call it "episodic" then it should take less time to get out than a normal game developement.

I agree but I think Valve were pretty much burnt out after HL2. I think rushing Episode after Episode out would pretty much kill all the team and they'll end up leaving. That's not really good is it. I don't really want another Valve team, I'm happy with the one they have now!

Maybe they enjoy the HL universe and want to keep expanding it? Not all developers are head over heels interested in making new IPs.
