What is a glitch? I think you are missing what I am saying.

You see how the max you can overclock is 800 on ram? I want to be able to go higher.

I'm not saying that by using a high resolution like 2048x1536 is gonna add more fps, in the case of a much higher resolution like that it's going to lower them. And again it also depends on the games, those behcnmarks are from legitreviews.com 7950 review. It's the games that really matter, in cod2 the 1900xtx crossfire gets 80fps at 1280x1024 and is on top, then at 1600x1200 the GX2 topples it and comes back on top due to SLI kicking in at the higher resolution. And hardocp has tons of reviews, its archived to June 5th when the 7950 debuted.

Alright, well you keep saying different things, so I'm just going to move on.

Sorry for the thread hijack guys

Could be a glitch, try it under the classic cp, mine limits itself to 900 with classic, yet 800 with new, sounds like a glitch to me, and I believe you need the Coolbits 3D to get higher mem speeds.

Use the latest Rivatuner. That will get past 800mhz on the memory.

Take a look. A single 7900GTX beats a GX2.
With the control panel being unpredictable in the latest betas, maybe they were running 8xAA or something on the 7950 and didn't know it.

I was just poking around on their forums and noone seems to have mentioned the strange results. How the single GX2 gets beat by the X1900XT and 7900GTX (single). Odd.

But yeah something doesn't seem right there.

Heh, I don't find that surprising.

Anyway, I haven't read their review since I don't visit the site anymore but you can find cases where a single XTX or GTX could have higher performance. For example, if the game is being tested in a CPU limited area, the performance of SLI will usually be a little lower due to the overhead of handling SLI.

Also, another thing I just thought of is that maybe they left the driver in multiple display mode instead of enabling multi-gpu mode. Wouldn't it basically be the equivalent of a 7900 GT then? Hmm, I'm curious but not curious enough to give them a hit.

Well they were running in higher resolutions so you would expect (especially in the FEAR bench) that CPU shouldn't be that much of a factor there. Their results just don't jive with anyone else's from what I can tell. Curiously there doesn't seem to be much discussion about this anywhere else - I'm assuming people are just taking a "yeah whatever" attitude regarding their review. Guess I can't blame them.

And yeah there are certainly some possiblities here as far as how they could've screwed this up. Leaving it in multi-monitor mode would be one option.

I'd agree with OWA on this one, their beta drivers and the benchmarks go back and forth battling the 1900xtx. I've seen benchmarks where the 1900xtx is on top at 1280x1024, but once they use higher resolutions it plummets to 3rd or 4th place.

Right but if you read the driverheaven review the single X1900XT (not even XTX) beats the single GX2 in higher resolutions such as 16x12 or 19x12.

Something isn't right there.
