Sorry for the thread hijack guys
I think overall getting a bigger monitor isnt going to benefit my fps or benchmarks, I do believe there to be exceptions to the rule which shocked me seeing those benchmarks - but if I were to get a new monitor I would go crazy and get a widescreen HD 2048x ..... resolution etc. I wouldnt upgrade just to go to 1600x1200.

Going higher than 1600x1200 I would defo be worse off in fps etc.

What would be your thoughts on SLI and maxing out gfx settings?

I normally play oblivion on 1280x1024 with around 50% of the sliders set at half way (settings ive kept since my 7900GT) it still looks great and gives tasty fps. If I were to whack everything up to 100% all max settings do you think then SLI would get used more and I would in fact get better fps?

If you want those high XHD resolutions, you'll defanitely want to get a new set of cards, 7900 GTX SLI or a 7950 GX2.

With Oblivion, it depends on the situation. In cities (especially when a lot of NPCs are out and about) the game is heavily CPU limited. In one place I was getting an average of around 17fps no matter what resolution I ran at. Thats a serious SERIOUS CPU bottleneck on a CPU like mine.

In other areas though, with forests, lots of grass and foliage... SLI should help a lot.

On my 7900GTX I always ran the game at 1600x1200 with everything maxed and some ini tweaks, along with a bunch of visual plugins. It runs crappily in some places, but overall its very playable and looks beautiful. Getting that 7950 should really help my framerates in areas with lots of foliage.

I just waded through this whole thread looking for 7950 overclocks and i found maybe one page out of 10 that actually had people posting their overclocks and the rest of the 10 pages had nothing but talking about reviews and resolutions and cpu limitations and everything but "Please post your 7950 overclocks here..." lol .

What temperatures are you all getting with the 7950.

Mine are overclocked to 575/760 and the temps are running between 67 (idle ) - 78 (under load).

Well, I JUST turned mine on a few minutes ago and its at 52C. But so far I've seen it between 62 idle (overnight) and 81 load (after playing oblivion).

EDIT: Its pretty hot and humid in my room right now, and its idling at 65C. Not bad really.

BTW new WHQL 91.31's are out, testing them now.

*Edit* No difference, still no Quad support, sigh.

got my 7950s to 550, 750 completely stable. very satisfied with the performance of these cards. for the price I think it's hard to beat a 7950gx2.
Quad sli is iffy but oh well shame on me for putting cards in that aren't yet supported.

It's not too hard to get Quad working, it's just a pain in the ass testing so many different settings, took me forever to get Prey working.
