Well, if you're gaming at 1600x1200 you will not be putting much load on the cards so, yes, two of them would be of little use. A single GX2 is more than enough for anything at 1600 and under and even 1920x1200 for most games.

Default Can you please help ?

Hi,

I have 2 7950GX2 graphic cards and joined them together in Quad SLI.

For your information my pc specs are :

Athlon FX60 (o/c at 2,93Ghz - stable)
DFI Lanparty NF4 SLI-DR Expert Mobo
2 GB Ram Mushkin Redline ( 2 x 1GB )
2 x 150 Hard Disks Raptor 10,000RPM
Sound Blaster X-FI
Tagan Turbojet 900W PSU
(Just ordered today the Dell 3007WFP TFT)

Before installing the second 7950GX2 i had the following FPS in the following games :

BF2 : 90-100 fps
COD2 : 30-55 fps
Prey : 60 fps
3D Mark 2006 : 9117

I forgot to let you know that my 7950GX2s are the XFX Extreme Edition which come overclocked at 520MHz Core Speed & 1300MHz Memory Speed. I managed to overclock it even more at : 605MHz Core Speed and 1600MHz Memory Speed which is stable. I use the RivaTuner utility.

Now, after i installed the second 7950GX2 card i get the same fps results in all games and even a lower score in the 3DMark 2006.
I use the 91.37 forceware which is a beta one from Nvidia which supports Quad Sli for 7950 cards.

Am i doing something wrong? Is there a way to overclock both cards or if one of them is overclocked it means that both are ? Because i see no option in Riva tuner nor in Coolbites for overclocking both cards. (i just overclok one in the hope that both are overclocked).
My monitor is a Viewsonic 21' CRT and i tried all games with 1600x1200 resolution.

I will appreciate your help.

Thank you

You wont notice much of a boost in anything that you mentioned other than Prey. You should be able to notice a very nice boost Prey depending on the settings you are using(i think its also locked at 60fps but it should be at 60fps 100% of the time)

Good read: http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/...ad_sli_update/

Edit- When you oc in SLI both cards oc the same; there is no way to have different clocks

Hello,

I chose this board to go with my new system, and i have read some things about this board not working with the 7950gx2...

Someone can tell me if this is true, and what BIOS is the better one to go with this configuration?

Just to let you know the system will be like this:

Asus P5W DH Deluxe
Caixa CoolerMaster Stacker Silver STC-T01
Fonte OCZ GameXStream 700W

XFX GeForce PCI-E 7950GX2-M500 1Gb GDDR3

Thanks a lot for any kind of information...

i got a evga 7950gx2 yesterday, find optional told me to use 580mhz for GPU, and 780 for memory

i dropped it a bit lower to 560mhz GPU and 750 memory.

with this sysetm
x2 4400+ at 2.6
PC4000 at 520mhz
EVGA 7950gx2 91.45 driver at 560 core, 750 memory

i get around 8600 in 3dmark06. is that about right?

in new control panel if i choose single display, the score is cut in half, if i change it back to mutli-display i get about 6000. Once I reinstall the driver, and its back at multi-display again, i get my score of 8600 back.

in new control panel
under advance

before change = 8600 point

if i set it to single display acceleration = half of that, around 4300 point
if i set it back to multi display acceleration = about 6000 point

if i uninstall the driver, and install it again, its back to 8600

is it more clear now?

WTF is causing this

Evga 7950 GX2

578/765 detect optimal frequencies

I run 570/750 no artifacts or crashing

Seems to be a goood card...I'd like to see some better drivers for it though.

Which drivers are people using for the PCI-PCI bridge on thier cards....standard xp drivers or are there some Nvidia Ones available?

Thanks,

JC
