My card is the XFX7900GX2 QSLI. I know it aint a 7950 but it is the same just a little longer.Im not a speed freak but i just wanted to see what the 7900 could do. I took the GPU up to 580 And the Menory upto 775 and used 3Dmark 05 to test My score was 13,005 the first time and the second time 12,915 is this good?

How do you get such high optimal frequencies?

All I get with my 7950 GX2 Quad-SLI is 550/700...

I never understood that either since it looks like a preset timed test(look at the status bar and MHz) but every card is different I guess. I've seen three evga's all come out to 550/700 but they go much-much higher manually

Yeah, I've noticed the same thing but I have MSI cards. I don't think the find optimal is really doing anything in my case.

i always run it just for fun and tbh i've found it useless with pretty much any card as it never even comes close to what the cards are capable of.

Has anyone tried using Artic Silver 5? Right now, I'm stuck @ 558/757. Hoping to get to 600/800 by going with Artic Silver 5...

Im sorry to say that there is no chance that AS5 alone can do that. Best not to risk it imho unless its a completely new cooling solution

The autodetect has to do with the stock clocks. It will stop once it reaches a certain threshold above the stock clocks.

So, stock, my EVGA card does the same 550/700 autodetect. I put in my own BIOS, that is clocked at 550/700 as the stock clock, and the card will detect 600/800 as the optimal setting. It is the same delta change from the BIOS clocks (50 on the core and 100 on the memory). And, you will also notice that the detection increments thecore by 1 and the memory by 2 up until failure or the threshold. Manually, it will do 615/835 as the highest usable setting. Well, I guess "they" since it is QUAD SLI.

Also, depends on the driver used, as well. Each one seems to have different levels. And, I suppose it could also be system dependent. 550/700 is all too common of an auto detect. Way too low since almost all 7950 cards get close to 600/800.

EVGA 7950 GX2 - auto detect with the latest WHQL is 595/784. Running 590/780 right now with no problems after hours of gaming. 600/780 now still runs great!
