If he gets a monitor with a resolution higher then 1280 x1024 he'll see better results, SLI perfroms better at higher resolutions. With him being stuck at 1280x1024 he won't see the higher performance he can, he needs a new monitor if he wants higher fps. You should read up on SLI to undertsand it, just google it, the higher the resolution, the better the results.

But as everyone has pointed out higher resolution gives lower fps and performance just utilizes the benefits of SLI more.

You said that a better monitor will get you better framerates and scores, thats silly.

And I know how SLI works, you just restated what I said earlier.

It's not silly, he can't gain any more performance being limited to that resolution. Exactly like a

The point is, a new monitor with higher resolutions would help him greatly.

Thats what concerned me, I am quite happy with 17" tft for the moment, but if a new monitor gave me higher fps and better 3dmark scores I would go bigger

The results would be the same if not better with a 21" @ 1600x1200.

Ok, that doesnt even make sense.

Your framerates will NOT go up if you increase resolution. PERIOD.

It will look better, yes, but thats much different than running smoother.

Stop trying to confuse people, holy crap

LOL your the one confusing people, and benches have shown scores to go up slightly, and if you can read, my last message said it would be the same if not better, stop taking things out of context. Especially when your talking about Quad where you will see more fps at higher resolutions, which paul was also asking btw.

I see where the confusion is...

The percentage increase by using SLI vs. a single card at 1280x1024 is smaller than the percentage increase at 1600x1200. This is not saying the FPS will be higher at 1600x1200...it won't. It will for sure be lower. But compared to the single card at 1600x1200 it will be a bigger difference than at 1280x1024.

Hope that clears up some confusion...
