It seems that nvsound (and probably nvnet too) has problems with MODULE_PARM in kernel 2.6.17.

I got nvsound to work by extracting the source, changing the MODULE_PARM call to a module_param() call, and manually building, e.g.:

> cd NFORCE-Linux-x86-1.0-0310-pkg1/nvsound/main
> edit nvmain.c:
change line 2191 from: MODULE_PARM(vapu_enable, "i");

> reboot

Something similar will probably work for nvnet.

nvsound: module license 'NVIDIA' taints kernel.
nvsound: Unknown symbol remap_page_range

and with the nvnet modul. i dont know what i could change there

The NFORCE driver package is meant for older (before 2.6.16) kernel versions. Kernels since 2.6.16 already ship with support for the same hardware.

that is the main point why i dont want to use 3rd party drivers. the audio processor for the realtec chip is nice and pushs some quality into the sound output. one of the causes why nvidia-boards are used instead of via-boards
