Default xorg problems

Because of recent changes in the xorg api Ican't emerge the latest xorg server on my gentoo system. Unfortunately this is impacting a lot of stuff that has nothing to do with X. I'd love to have some idea of when new drivers will be out. Thus if it might be 6 months I obviously have to find a work around, if only a few weeks, I will simplify my life and just wait for the new drivers. From the Gentoo forums, I know lots of others are impacted by this as well. Note that any kind of very rough estimate would be useful. I might add that drivers would not have to be perfect to be useful. The fact the current drivers don't work with the latest X is a real blocker. Thanks,
Fred

heard that one user died while he was waiting for a new nvidia binary:
emerge -C nvidia-glx
emerge -C nvidia-kernel

driver=nv
and feel free.

Tried this: http://gentoo-wiki.com/TIP_XOrg_7.1_...NVidia_Drivers
And manually installing the driver?

Talking Re: xorg problems

binary drivers are a millstone round linux's neck. I would prefer:
startx --ignore-nvidia_binary
