Angry 91.33 and monitor detection

Hi.

I had version 91.31 of the drivers installed and my Viewsonic G90+ monitor was detected correctly by the drivers and all previous versions of the drivers I have installed.

I have now installed version 91.33, now my monitor is no longer detected correctly, device manager shows the monitor correctly, but the driver shows the monitor as "Analog Display" now the screen flickers just after Windows starts, and if I right click on the desktop and select properties, the screen flickers again. I have uninstalled the drivers and reinstalleld version 91.31, same problem, unistalled these and installed version 84.21 same problem.

There is obvioulsy some registry entry that is incorrect, any ideas?

I have a LeadTek 6800GT agp graphics card.

Have you re-installed your monitor driver after installing the 91.33 drivers??

changing drivers always knocks out my monitor driver........

as for the monitor powering down and back up just before windows loads this is a known issue and has been logged.

Hi, yes I have reinstalled the monitor drivers, Windows shows the correct monitor in Device Manager, and also on the first dialog that appears when you right click on the desltop and select properties. What is concerning is even when the drivers are uninstalled, and previous drivers (which worked) are re-installed I have the same problem. Something has been changed in the registry, and this is causing the problems. I wouldn't mind the driverds not finding my correct monitor, but as an Analog Display, certain resolutions and refresh rates are available that if selected could damage the monitor.

Would driver cleaner or any other driver remover utiltiy remove all the registry entries added by the driver? I do not particularly want to re-install Windows.

I have exactly the same problem, these drivers are another P.O.S set.

Also, at times between this screen flickering on and off accessing the control panel it messes with the resolution. The screen suddenly goes all squashed into the middle.

These drivers suck bigtime.

Did you find anyway to get the drivers or any other verion of the drivers to detect the monitor correctly? This is most fustrating. None of the old drivers now want to work.

give system restore a go if you use it (i dont) but it can help when trying to roll back a recent change.

or give driver cleaner a go, you could also manually go through the system32 folder and remove any NV entries.

That makes two of us - the exact same problem. This goes for all three FW90 drivers (91.28 BETA, 91.31 BETA and 91.31 WHQL). Hardware: 7900GT, A64 + ECS KA1 MVP Extreme (ATI Xpress 200 chipset).

With the first FW90 driver (.28 BETA), I just uninstalled the old FW84.43 BETA and then uninstalled the new ones. After exiting any game, the screen just went black. All background program like Winamp was running as if nothing had happened. I just thought this was due to a brand new driver and maybe some old files that conflicted. I also tested it on a driver-clean ghost image, and there was some graphic corruptions here and there (3DM06 "Deep Freeze" for one), so i just waited for a new one and switched back to FW84.43.

Next up was 91.31 BETA. This time I uninstalled the drivers and followed Driver Cleaner's way of removing old files. There was no graphic corruption I noticed, but the screen still went black after exiting a game. So my hope was a fix in a WHQL driver, so once again i switched back to FW84.43 and waited for a new driver.

Finally a WHQL driver (FW91.31 WHQL), but did it fix my problems exiting games? NO! Same !DH-uninstall routine! as above, but I could not fix this problem.

So after several attempts I am stuck with FW84.43 BETA. Awaiting another update

Nvidia Direct access bug is back for some of you I see. This same thing use to happen to me with my 6800UE and a 19" CRT I use to have. There is a work around for those interested.

1.Roll back to a driver that recognizes your monitor, Then uninstall, reboot, use drivercleaner,

2a.install 91.33, reboot. Now this is VERY important, after you reboot DO NOT right click the nvidia icon or double click it, DO NOT right click your desktop either. Go straight to C:\WINDOWS\system32 and find nvmccs.dll and nvmccsrs.dll and delete/rename those 2 files. This use to work for me.

2b.Or you can do step 1 and then before installing 91.33 open nv4_disp.inf with notepad and search for nvmccs.dll and nvmccsrs.dll, delete all reference to those 2 files in nv4_disp.inf. Those two file then wont install to C:\WINDOWS\system32.

Like I said this use to work for me, there were several early 8x.xx series of drivers that use to exhibit the behavior you guys are seeing.

Here is a 91.33 nv4_disp.inf with reference to those files removed.

Hi, thanks for the info and the modified file. The problem I have is that none of the drivers that used to find my monitor are finding my monitor now. I have used driver cleaner in Safe Mode to remove any file left over but still no luck.

Okay That also happened to me when I was haveing the same issues as you. This is how I finally got the previous drivers to recognize my monitor again. Uninstall your drivers, reboot use driver cleaner, then shutdown your pc. dont reboot shut it down. Unplug the power cord from your Powersupply, shut your monitor off. unhook your monitor from your video card and unplug your monitors power cord also. Push your power on button on your pc to remove any power still present. let the pc and monitor set for a minute or two, plug your monitor back into your video card, plug your monitor power cord back in, followed by your pc power cord. power on your pc, do not power on your monitor yet, let the pc power up past the the bios screen and windows boot screen, then power on your monitor. Install the previous driver that worked and recognized your monitor and hopefully it will now see your monitor. Give it a try, it cant hurt.
