whithe screen when x loads

Hi

The system is a Toshiba Satellite 5100-603 with a NV17 [GeForce4 440 Go].
I am running FC6 Test with all updates

I installed the beta driver 9625 and when the system loads i get a white screen (the logo is not shown just a flash of white)

attached is the bug report.

BTW the 8774 driver locks the system on boot.

This issue has been discussed, with solutions, several times on this forum. I'd suggest searching for your notebook model.

After numerus tries trying every suggestion posted in the forums with 9625 & 9626 i still have the same problem.
When X start the screen is black and gradually become a bright white (some times with gray shades or black lines).

Attached are log file with different configurations.

nvidia-bug-report_6.nvidia.log & nvidia-bug-report_6.nvidia_kernel.log use the same xorg.conf but the second uses the kernel module loaded with the following options

options nvidia NVreg_SoftEDIDs=0 NVreg_Mobile=2 NVreg_FlatPanelMode=1 NVreg_ModifyDeviceFiles=0

all the other use the following load parametet

options nvidia NVreg_ModifyDeviceFiles=0

nvidia-bug-report_def.conf.log is with a minimal xorg.conf
nvidia-bug-report_6.nv.log with the nv driver
nvidia-bug-report_6.DFP-0.log only Option "UseDisplayDevice" "DFP-0"

The ones with 6 in the name indicate Xorg -logverbose 6

PS. i have tried with and without the patches posted. Todays are with both.

Try with the options:

agp=off acpi=off pci=nommconf

and using the default driver not the 'nvidia' driver, but instead 'nv'. This options worked in my laptop but disabled the sound and the acpi options (power managment).
