This bug is only present if RenderAccel is on, which is not the default in the legacy drivers.

Thanks,
Lonni

Where do I see the state if the RenderAccel is on or off? I'm myself on 1.0-7174 and have a GeForce2 card, so I'm "probably vulnerable", right?

What course of action do you suggest for me?

RenderAccel has to be explicitly enabled in your X configuration if you are using the legacy driver. If you're not sure, then odds are, you're not using it.

Thanks,
Lonni

I'm rather new with Linux. Does that mean that there should be some mention of renderaccel in xorg.conf maybe? Or how can I make sure? I'd rather not take any chances if I can avoid it...

I'm using Ubuntu, which came with the open source(?) driver "nv" that doesn't provide some 3d acceleration, for which i downloaded and installed the binary blob "nvidia" driver. Is that the renderaccel thing or is it yet something else?

Doesn't NVIDIA have a web page about this anywhere? I've seen a fair share of FUD about this issue online but that doesn't really make me too happy. One of the reasons I'm using Linux is to be safe and in command of my own computer, however, now at the moment I'm feeling pretty let down and in the dark.

Yes, you would need to have the RenderAccel option in your X configuration (xorg.conf or XF86Config).

Thanks,
Lonni

Is this bug now fixed in the current version?
