Default NV34M [GeForce FX Go5200] 3d accelleration

I have a Dell Latitude D800 with 512MB of ram and an Nvidia FX 5200 GO card. I have the nvidia drivers installed and loading. Im even running twinview etc without issues. I have an identicle OS, X and nvidia configuration on my desktop accept its a Ti4200, also used a 6800.

Basically to make a long story short the 3d accelleration appears to be non-existant even though it appears to be on. ie: Running the queens OpenGL screen saver in a window about 700x700 I get maybe 1-2FPS, games are totally unplayable.

I have the same exact software configuration on my desktop and it works fine.

Below I have listed infot about the card that has issues, the system its on and the glxinfo provided by that system.

I have a few questions:
0) Have you checked in the BIOS for an AGP aperture setting? Sometimes increasing it will resolve this sort of problem.
1) If you unset NvAGP in xorg.conf does that have any impact?
2) Does this problem only reproduce with TwinView?
3) Have you verified that you're using the latest BIOS?
4) Are you loading the nvidia kernel module with any options (or setting them via modprobe.conf)?
5) Are you doing any kind of power management?

NOTE: I do not have access to the laptop currently. Its gone off on a trip. I will have access to it again this coming monday though. I will those things stated below and post the results asap. In the meantime I have answer what I can.

I have not checked the BIOS but will.

No.

No.

BIOS on the machine? If so, it was verfied about 3 months ago. I will check again though.

4) Are you loading the nvidia kernel module with any options (or setting them via modprobe.conf)?

It would appear the script /etc/init.d/nvidia-glx loads the modules. I see no options via the config file for that script.

5) Are you doing any kind of power management?

I am. acpid is running. I will try it with it off.

I did a bit more research and the laptop has 512MB of ram but the card only has 32MB of ram. Not sure what impact this will have. Typically it seems the system has approximately 238MB of system ram free during normal system opertions.

BIOS does not seem to have anyway to adjust the aperature setting.

No.

No.

The BIOS is up to date.

4) Are you loading the nvidia kernel module with any options (or setting them via modprobe.conf)?

I have tried not only disabling the service but in addition providing the noacpi option on boot.

Have you tried booting with the acpi=off kernel parameter?
