Default Nvidia Legacy driver

Firstly, let me say that I am a complete beginer using Linux.
I have installed Fedora 5 and updated it via software updater. All seemed well except for the display.
The graphics card I am using is an old Nvidia Geeforce 2 mx400. I downloaded an installed the current Linux Nvidia Legacy driver. I had to edit my xorg to replace "nv" with "Nvidia".
However, startx now seems to take ages to start, my mouse pointer is a black x and i cannot drag or resize windows.

Help would be appreciated.

As far as I know, you can use the latest non-legacy driver with your Geforce2 MX400.

I browsed supported product list and all geforce2 mx models are supported in current non-legacy driver (your model is on list with name: GeForce2 MX/MX 400). So download and install 1.0-8762 driver.

@swoosh: In xorg replace "nv" with "nvidia" not "Nvidia". Linux is case sensitive when it comes to names so Nvidia and nvidia can be two different files. There is no driver with name Nvidia so X probably fallback to other generic driver (think it is vga). That is why your screen is ugly.
