Default Linux Nvidia HW fault test program

I'm trying to find some kind of NVidia video hardware fault testing software. I'm looking for something that will at least detect and report which video card is installed, and possibly test the memory, data paths, etc on the card. A command line interface would be preferable. Does anything like this exist?

For instance lspci can already detect the videocard (although the gpu database shipped with most distributins it is highly incomplete and not up to date). Try nvclock (use the cvs version as it contains support for more cards).
