who's idea was it to pick Morrowind? pointless to review Morrowind when oblivion is out. No openGL benchmarks at least use quake IV if not Doom 3.

This was a multi-site review. NVNews had the uncommon benchmarks, but if you want to see things like Doom 3 and Quake 4 they can be found here: http://www.hardinfo.com/show.asp?page=6743

Not sure about Oblivion, but chances are that it's somewhere in the multitude of reviews that were done.

The X1900 XT is very good hardware and has poor software support as far as Crossfire goes. It's like giving a ten year old child keys to a Ferrari.

At this time nVidia has won the multi-gpu battles for a variety of reasons already covered.

This 7950 GX2 is an ideal card for 1600x with high levels of filtering and a nice value. It keeps me away from much lower min frame rates I'd get with a single flagship card in very demanding games.

BTW kudos to all the sites involved in this work. It accurately reflects my recent personal experience with ATi|nVidia multi-gpu configurations.

Wow, definately a nice review / read.

Despite Crossfire having around the same time (a year now) as SLI did to mature, it's rather telling that SLI still manages to be no. 1.

Again, awesome job, and I can personally say I've seen this referenced from all of the boards I visist.

Mine. I provided two legitimate reasons why I chose Morrowind, but I see that your next statement makes them irrelevant.

OK. Guess what? I just visited the pointless Morrowind General Discussion forum and counted close to 100 pointless threads that their pointless members created today. Also, Neoseeker covered Oblivion.

I could have sworn that Neverwinter Nights uses OpenGL. In fact, I may even have mentioned it in the article. Quake 4 was covered by HardINFO.

That certainly was an irritating series of questions to respond to.

You get one who think he/she knows better. But had they bothered to look at all muti-gpu reviews, the answer would have been there. I think he must have read uncommon benchmarks as "common" benchmarks.

God knows this was nothing short of an epic project, and I hate to nitpick (and I just might have missed this in the S/N traffic), buuuut: why is/was the 7950GX2 considered "midrange"?

EDIT: probably answering myself--because it really is two midrange GPUs in a modified SLI configuration, so there you go...duh.

Price was the consideration in using the 7950GX2. It cost the same as 2 1900GT's did.

Could have sworn that was still higher than the 7900 GTX, but I'm too tired to be sure of that.
