Hi,
Also want to confirm that my A6T has experienced the White Screen with some garbage lines scrolling across the top after exiting or starting 3D Apps. This system is running XP Pro not Unix/Linux. It is also using 84.66 nvidia drivers (stock preinstalled drivers). The bios is 0209 (which seems odd since the websites list 0301 as the first release). Have dl'd 0601 but have not yet installed - doesn't seem to be an option to backup prev. bios in Winflash either .Have been using Wolf ET (game) and 3dMax 7.5. Many hours of use without problem. However, at least 5 times (in 2 weeks) white screen has occurred forcing a complete power down and reboot. However the majority of this laptops use has not been 3d. Someone mentioned 70 c , I also monitored 70c after several hours of gaming. It's quite scary. I elevate the laptop to allow some airlfow beneath it but even that isn't enough. The laptop is rock solid for stability except for the problem involving the white screen. There is a usb fan unit available that sits beneath any laptop (you might have seen them too). I might invest in one of those. I hope this is not a permanent error. I'll keep monitoring this thread. |

I have tested your tip, i have selected Disable use of enhanced cpu instructions set, and override application setting in anisotropic and antialiasing panel. And where are set at off and 1 for antialiasing.
But i don't see any changement. And i don't have the evirronemment variable what's you said (GL_FORCE_GENERIC_CPU). |

After several trials changin the options indicated, I noticed that thing were not getting better. I had to uninstall once again nvidia drivers since the system is completely unusable whether I'm using 3D accelerated softwares or not when the drivers are installed.
Waiting for good news... ![]() |

Hi everybody,
it seems, the problems still persists with the new driver version. I could start glxgears and some OpenGl-screensavers, stop them, start them again, let them run for a time, stop them, waited and then, when I started one GL-app again, the bug occurred again. Nevertheless I've got the impression, the new driver worked better than the one before, since before upgrading I could not start a gl-app for the second time at all. Any other ideas? Greetings from Germany Kratylos |

Hi everybody,
I'm sorry if I seems so pessimist, but I don't think that new driver release will automagically solve the problem, at least because for Nvidia our problem does not exist at all, since they can not reproduce it. I will try to upgrade the driver anyway, but until we find where the problem is (driver, kernel, bios) , I'm afraid we will not solve it. Alessandro. |
