Default Driv3r

Hello, i got Driver 3 :P for PC
it looks like a fun game...lol
( i just don't like to controls.., they are all over the place)

But i'm a bit suprise.... since the quality ( well the graphics) isn't that good!
It looks worse then GTA 3 ( and vice city)
so i was wondering is there any way i could tweak the game??

I'm running the game on my gaming system... ( the one with GF 4 Ti 4600)

BTW, i was thinking to upgrade my computer...
now which one do you recommand :P
1) should i just upgrade my Graphic card ( get a 6800 GT or 6800, or Ultra)
2) wait and buy a SLI motherboard and get dual 6800 GT or ultra ?

If you wondering why i have the wait in bold is because
i want to save up my money so i could get an
Processor:FX 55
Sound : Audigy ( i think i will use my old one :P )
Hard drive : 2x 250 (RAID 0 )

-- and now since money is a big issue for me... GOING to University :P (hopefully soon..lol)

Thank you,

Nope, The game blows no matter what tweaking you do or what system you run it on.

its funny isn't ?
when you look at the screen shots on the web site ( for driver 3) the quality is totally different from the game itself... :P

btw, what is a good fan for AMD cpus ( for something like FX series)
or Athlon... like for 2400+ ??
i'm right now using Volcano 9... its good but NOISY!

The patch fixed a few rendering bugs in the game. Mostly some textures were turning white randomly. Seems to be mostly fixed, but there are still plenty of texture bugs on the buildings and such. What's very awry is this game has some noticeable pop up issues which I find staggering since most PC games today do not have it. It's happens on older consoles though when the draw distance is too far and objects just pop out of nowhere. No modern game should have these sorta problems nowadays on a console or PC.

The controls remain unchanged and horrendously hideous when compared to other games with the same premise. (GTA series) The graphics are a little better than GTA:VC through the use of HDR(sky), pixel shaders(water), and stencil shadowing, but the controls sorta ruin the game. Also, the game isn't a free roaming type affair like GTA which pretty much killed some of the cool gameplay elements from this type of game.

Here are some screenshots to illustrate what I mean. The HDR and PS water is nice, but the extreme pop-up issues and controls sours the game a lot. Add the lack of a true free roaming mode and the game is a poor attempt at GTA type gameplay.

These screenshots show 2 things. White textures and the sofa sorta appears out of thin air by moving my view a few degrees to the right(now you see it, now you don't):

This shot shows the nice PS water and HDR on the sky.

These 2 shots shows the pop-problems when driving around the city. Objects appear out of nowhere. Especially the foliage(but not only). They are appearring and dissappearing in and out. It's a bit annoying at times.

There are some good things about the game though. Car Damage is a bit better than in the GTA games. The cars look a bit better. Shadows are nice. The game looks very good sometimes(it also looks very bad sometimes too). Objects are destructible, well most objects anyways. I guess we'll need to have PPU's before we can get destructible TREES.

There are some good things, but they are overshadowed by all the bad things so....
