Default Fatal error: No screen(s) found....

Ok, I have been trying to get my Geforce4 MX 460 to work for a long time, and I allways end up with a x-server crash. I use NVChooser to find the rpms I need, and alter my XF86Config-4 as the readme says. But when i startx i get this:

(EE) NVIDIA(0) NO MODES REMAINING FOR DISPLAY DEVICE 0
(EE) NVIDIA(0) **ABORTING**
(EE)SCREEN(S) FOUND BUT NON HAVE A USABLE CONFIGURATION

FATAL SERVER ERROR:
NO SCREENS FOUND

when i demsg it says the nvidia kernel loads.

Any idea what I should do? Sorry if this has been answered a thousand times before.

Try adding...
Option "IgnoreEDID" "true"
to your XF86Config file, under the device section. That worked for me, took me a long time to figure it out too, hope that works for you

K, I added that and it seems to work, but only when I comment out the "glx" among with the other things... Hardware acclearation for games that dont use OpenGl works fine, but i want that to, I get an error 11 that says it cant initialize glx....

and, thanks again for your other tip.

What did you do?

I'm interested, because I don't know of any good way to try to fix sig11's (segfaults, basically) in the glx module. This might be a candidate...

I deleted those things that was to be deleted (Cant remember name, look in nvidias readme)
Then I remembered I forgot to change the driver from "nv" to "nvidia" and that solved it, im high as a kite on hardware acceleration!
